Remarks
I applied for PES University, BMS, RNSIT but didn't get into PESU and BMS due to KCET Cutoff for GM and was not interested in RNSIT College. I did not avail any quota for admission. The admission process happened online based on KCET rank prior to which there was offline KCET Counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Computer Science Engineering because I was interested in coding and wanted to get better at it. There were approximately 70 students per class and enough faculty in all the branches. Many of the faculties were PHD holders and Professors with good knowledge, they used to revise what was done before internals and exams which helped us. There was 1 internal every month and the term exams were not bad.
Internships Opportunities
These interships were offered in the final year as part of the placements. Few companies that offered internships were 42 Gears, McAfee, Infoblox, mainly for the roles of technical intern or software development intern. The stipend offered was around 25k per month. There is also a company SkillBot owned by one of our college heads that offers internships during the intermediate semesters in domains like Data Science, Digital Image Processing etc.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from 7th semester. To list some of the companies visited AR System Inc., 42 Gears, McAfee, Infoblox, Perfios, Cognizant, Infosys, Accenture and many more and college allowed multiple offers per student. The highests package offered was 20L and the average package being 4L, the various profiles offered were Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, ASE and so on. Almost all of them got placed. My plan after getting the degree was to just continue full time with the job I secured and improve myself and learn to work as required by the company.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since I got in through KCET the fee was affordable compared to those who got in through COMEDK or Management, and there was no fee hike policy, the cost to study 4 years was around 4 Lakhs through KCET. There were scholarships and financial assistance available none of which applied to me. I got into pretty good companies and got an internship for 6 months at a company with a stipend of 22k/month.
Campus Life
The annual and tech fest was named Tatva with a lot of games and tech activities. Usually conducted in even semesters in the month of September. There are a variety of books and journals available in the two libraries (reference and department library). The benches are good, also has a projector and a camera installed in all the classrooms. There is a small ground available and also a PE department for sports, there is also table tennis and badminton courts available on campus.
