THE HARSH TRUTH OF MSME, CSJMU

I was looking for materials science and metallurgical engineering course. As I didn't qualified JEE-MAINS, this was only college in U.P. which was providing this stream. It was a mistake that I regret till today. Please do not chose this stream if you are joining this college and if you have option then do not join this college at all. This will do no good to your career.

Do not join the course of materials science and metallurgical engineering. There is no campus placement here. Faculties are biased to some of the students who keeps a good contact with them. There is also caste racism. Faculties (not all) favour those who belongs to same caste as them. Exams are held twice a semester. Mid semester (for 30 marks if no practical. If practical then for 20 marks) and end semester ( for 50 marks if no practical and 40 marks for subject with practical lab). There are also 2 quizzes of 15 marks each. One is before mid sem and other is before end sem. Average or best of quiz are taken depending on the faculty. There is 5 marks for attendance above 75%. But this also depends on faculty. Practical exam is of 20 marks ( 5 for attendance, 5 for file and 10 for final practical). Total marking is like this:For regular subject (no practical): 30(mid) +50(end) +15(quizzes) +5(attendance) = 100For practical subject: 20(mid) +40(end) +20(lab) +15(quizzes) +5(attendance) = 100Generally, previous year question papers are repeated in mid and end semester. All the questions comes from the notes that are made in class. To pass a subject, 30 marks (D grade) are required for non practical subject and 24 marks (D grade) are required for practical subject. Answer sheets of quiz, mid and end sem are also shown to you as it is autonomous. Everything depends on faculty. If they are happy with you, you will get good grade if not, then god knows what will happen.

No guarantee of employment. Chose either Computer Science or Information technology for placement. A CS guy got a package of around 4-5lpa highest. Materials science did not gave any placement opportunity. No compies were there for the placement.

The fees has increased to around 82000 per annum for B.Tech. course from any stream. Scholarship is available for the person who's father do have a govrnment job and have a family income of less than 2lpa . There is no campus placement available in MSME department. Only CS students may get job.

The social life is not so great. Library is good and have a wide range of books available. There was used to be a technical festival which was held once a year but it was discontinued in the year 2019. Last festival was held in 2018. Campus life is also not so great. Do not expect that you will get to live your dream college life.

Hostel fees was 20000 for accommodation and 20000 for food. This is annual fees. But if increased now, then it shoud be around this much only. The food of the hostel is not good. Hostel is around 2km from the classes. Bus service is available for students. The bus that I used to take was generally 11:00AM. There is only one bus and it makes a trip from college gate to class and then to hostel once every hour I think.
