Remarks
Talked to some seniors studying in the college via Linkedin, and got to know that it has a good coding culture and societies. It has a good reputation among tech companies and the placements were good. Read various reviews on college websites like college duniya and shiksha. Watched various youtube videos showing the campus life.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is very similar to what is taught in IITs. But, at times it feels that the course structure is not updated. Computer Science and IT being a rapidly growing field, the course structure often struggled to keep pace with it. Average faculty student ratio is 1:25 across all course. There were three exams in a semester carrying marks: 20,20,35 and 25 marks were for internal assessment. It was easy to pass but tough to score high.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not provide any internship opportunities on their own. Students have to themselves apply for internships after the 5th or 6th Semester. I opted for a Gaming company, Octro with a stipend of 8k per month, but college had no role to play in getting me the internship.
Placement Experience
Placements are decent in Jaypee. More than a 100 companies visited on campus, including Swiggy, Uber, Ola, SAP labs, AWS. Mass recruiters included Infosys, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS. Students become eligible for placements starting 7th Semester. Most of the students are placed in the 7th Semester as well, and they can skip the last semester. There were lot of good companies in 8th Semester as well, so almost everyone had offers.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is well laid out and simple. But Jaypee being a private college has a pretty high fees. There were annual development charges and per semester academic charges. There is no scholarship or financial assistance option from the college. Campus jobs are not applicable for Graduate students, and only for students under Post Grad in the form of Teaching Assistance.
Campus Life
Life at campus is not that good. It has a small campus and there aren't much opportunities for Sports or Recreational activities. Annual Fest (Impressions) was carried out by a student committee and had good sponsors, but it was limited for JIIT students only. There was a separate Tech Fest (Cyber Srishti) which included various tech events. Library was good and updated. The clubs and societies were really good and covered a lot of domains.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are available only on Twin sharing basis for both boys and girls. Hostels are kept neat and clean. The power supply was 24x7. There were TT and Pool tables provided for hostellers. AC was however not up to the mark, and had a limited availability. The college mess was in a separate building on a walkable distance from college. The food quality was really bad. Only breakfast was eatable, lunch and dinner were uneatable and had a pungent smell.
Admission
Admission in JIIT was done on the basis of rank in JEE MAINS exam. There was a counselling session, in which students had to fill their choices. Students were then called upon in order of their ranks and their chosen course was assigned based on availability. All this happened in a single day of counselling.
