Nit Jamshedpur college review

I preferred this college as it was in my state, the college has a good infrastructure and faculty, the placement record of this college is also good. The admission to this college and all other NITs is done on the basis of JEE main entrance exam score. The jee main exams are held 4 times a year. All the candidates can appear in all these 4 exams if they want to improve their scores further( the best percentile is considered). After jee mains results, the qualified candidates can apply for jee advanced (for IITs). After both JEE Main, JEE Advanced exams and results, there is a counselling process in which we have to choose the colleges and courses we are interested to take admission in. The counselling happens in 6 rounds. Then according to ranks every candidate is provided a seat in one college and branch from hi lost of choices. Then after all the rounds of counselling the admission happens on the college website where we have been given a seat.

My course is civil engineering. I chose this course as I am more inclined to the core sectors of engineering. Falculty here is good. Most of the professors have done their masters or research through prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs. The exams are taken very timely. There are two exams in each semester, there is viva and practicals(which is temporarily not happening due to online mode). Btech is a 4yr course, i.e. 8 semesters.

There are opportunities for both on and off campus placement. In third year there are many internship opportunities and the candidates are eligible for placement in 4th year. Many core and non core companies like Tata, infosis, Deloitte, etc come for on campus placements.

There is a provision of fee remission for students whose family annual income is less than 5lakhs. There are two categories: 1_ full fee remission (annual income under 2lakhs)2_ 2/3rd fee remission (annual income under 5 lakhs). There are various scholarships available. But for general category students there is no scholarship.

There are clubs for many activities, technical and non technical. Like there are clubs for making racing cars, drones, sports, singing, dancing, acting, etc. Fests like Ojas, Urja(sports fest), Ahwan, etc take place each year. A magazine named Mridang is released every year. Due to online mode the campus is closed. As a fresher I have not even got the opportunity to visit the campus. But the facilities on campus are good.

Jee mains, 2020, 97percentile

The admission is taken on the basis of only JEE mains exam. Which is an objective exam. The paper consists of physics, chemistry, maths. Each has 20 objective and 5 integer type questions. We have 3 hours of time to take the exam. There is no interview, etc for admission.
