I choose this course because this is an application/practical oriented course in field of Geophysics which attracts different well organized oil and gas companies to recruit students from ism Dhanbad. Other than that course curriculum is also good and all students get the opportunity to do their summer internship from ongc.

after 1st year students get internship opportunity in NGRI, IIRS, GSI, IGI, PRL etc. most of them are 2 month internship, no stipend is their but inspired fellow students will get some fellowship. After 2nd year students get an opportunity to be selected for internship in Cairn, Schluberger, Baker huges with some stipend.

pre final year students will get an opportunity to be selected for internship in well organized organization like Cairn, Schlumberger ,Baker hughes, Exxonmobil etc. other pre final year students will get an opportunity to do their summer internship in ongc. ONGC recruit from ISM from Geophysics, Geology and Petroleum department for the post of Graduate Trainee(GT) in E1 level and offer an ctc of 21 lac. All the above mansion company either gives PPO or recruits from ism through campus placement. Those who did not get job can go for GATE exm and join PSU job or can join PHD in reputed organizations like NGRI, PRL, IISC,Old IITs and people can go outside of india for their PHD.

for general candidates1st time admission fees 51kafter that for every winter semester fees 40k and every monsoon semester fees is 30kSC/ST candidates need to pay 8K less than above mansion value for each semester.merit cum means scholarship is available for good rankers or students with good cgpa having less than pre defined family income other than SC/ST category. IIT ISM Dhanbad is now a close campus IIT. There are total 9 hostels out of them 5 boys hostel, 3 girls hostels and one international students hostel every hostels has mess facility and canteen facility available. SRIJAN and BASANT are two main festival in ISM which generally organized during second week of February. Other than that there is a Bengali community cultural group name 'Oitijjha'.

till year 2017 they were taking students through their own exam. in my case: year 2017, ISM Dhanbad entrance exam, rank 16 (overall). From year 2018 ISM taking science students through JAM exam.

Direct admission after counseling through JAM entrance exam. Only documents verification and medical test will be conducted in institute during admission. students need to achieve a good rank in jam to take admission.
