The admission to Mtech is pretty straightforward score in the GATE exam , go for online counseling and get admission. The main reason and my inclination towards Iith was the research output and my interest towards research in environmental and water resource issues as I was not getting this branch in other college. Good part about the coursework is that you get plethora of knowledge not just in your subject but also in related subject for better understanding. Overall the coursework is research oriented and the lifestyle at campus is good. You get good food and proper housing and management.

The faculty to student ratio is healthy at IITH depending upon the department. But no doubt, even if the faculty ratio is low the faculty and curriculum is top notch and everything is supposed to be done on time. Infact being student you aren't given any chances to be lethargic for project and coursework. Overall the subject are oriented for student learning and continuous evaluation with assignment and quizzes such that passing a subject also gets easy with such resources.

No I haven't opted for any internship. But internship and student exchange program are there in institute to build the student company relationship and enhance the industrial understanding. JICA student exchange program is also there for student to visit Japan for industrial and cultural exchange.

From 3rd semester student are allowed to sit for campus placement. GE, Honeywell, intel, Amazon are some companies which came to campus for placement and took students for core and non core positions. Mostly the data science field has increased placement in each branch for the non core placements.

There are certain institute based scholarship or teaching assistant offered to student. You can always opt for external scholarship or sponsorship. Fee is mostly hiked due to the hostel mess charges. Otherwise the fee for the whole program is around 0.9 lakhs. You have alot of options in terms of job and placement as the non core companies take a lot of student from campus. Although the packages may be as low as 6lpa . For core subject as mentioned the institute is more focussed into research area.

Social life at campus is great. You get ample of opportunities, there's resources for everything cultural to sports. The clubs and the student community is also enthusiastic to help and guide you for everything.

No for the selected department there was no GD or interview for admission.and it depends mostly on the department but the interview involves mostly technical round. Which is mostly based on mathematical understanding and Gate syllabus.
