I took DDU university entrance exam, scored close to 75%. The University was only Place near to my hometown ( around 50 Km form my village but connected through railway) which use to offer graduation in Commerce stream.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Course used to consist papers on Account, Financial Management, Banking, Management, Taxation, secretarial practices etc. The medium of education was mainly in Hindi. Only Accounts books used to be in English. This was biggest drawback when I came to Bangalore after my graduation for the job.
Internships Opportunities
There were no requirement of doing internship in B.com Course. However, College used to provide internship for MBA Courses.
Placement Experience
There were no placement for B.Com Students. The college being located in Gorakhpur, which was not very developed at that point of time, there used to be placement by college. However, I have hared that the university has started arranging few placement for MBA Students.
College Events
There use to be no technical, cultural, management festivals which My university used to hold. However, there used to student union election which was no sort of festivals. Also, we used to celebrate 26th January and 15th August celebrations. Neither there was any ragging nor any fresher party etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Quite feasible as per today's norm. The fees used to around 1500 annually in the year 2001 to 2004 compare to 1,00,000 to 1,50,000 per year being paid in big city colleges. This being a government sponsored university hence the fee structure was quite affordable.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Fees was very minimum hence there was no loan facility for the same. There were few scholarship on the topper of exams. There was compulsory scholarship for SC and OBC students.
Campus Life
We had around 450 students in university which was divided into five sections i.e A, B, C, D, and E. The Sections were divided consisting of all girls in Section A and remaining boys in all other sections in order of alphabetic orders. Only around 45 girls were in Section A. The course of completely mail dominated.
Hostel Facilities
I was living in my home so no question arises to stay in hostel or eating in mess. However there were 2-3 hostels with good facilities. Mess was undoubtedly hot topic of criticism. My friend always felt good when they had taste of food cooked by my mother. I had so many friend n hostels, so I could see hostel life very closely.
Exam Structure
There used to be annual Exams once in a year. We were supposed to write six paper during a month period. This being Management Course, there were no labs experiments. However, some additional marks used to be awarded to those student who use to participate in NSC and NSA activities.
Admission
I wrote entrance exam along with around 90 friends from my school which is Baba Raghav Das Inter college situated in Deoria District of uttar Pradesh. Only two of us could get the admission in university. There was only 450 seats available for B.Com or which close to 40,000 students appeared.
Faculty
The faculty was mix kind of. The teacher of Banking was very good. He was on adhoc in university, was pursuing his PHD, and his teaching method of quite interesting. The Management teacher was too old to speak. We had a fear that he should not die in college premises. The Account teacher never used to attend the classes.
