Lack of industrial exposure but good one

Initially I had opted for Global academy of technology since my friends had opted it, but I chose sapthagiri college because my parents knew that college and the management very well and it had easy travelling connectivity from my place, so I got admitted to Sapthagiri college of engineering. I was admitted in the general quota as my father is a government employee, hence I was not eligible to get any other quota than general. The cut-off rank for my college for civil engineering department started from 50,000 in 1st round of application then it was extended till 69,000 at the 3rd round. So I got selected in 3rd round of CET. Since we knew the management well, the admission criteria went smooth and I got admitted to this college.

I had intrest in civil engineering from the beginning, hence I opted this course. There are 12 faculty and 67 students for civil department in our batch. it's a manageable ratio. All the teachers in our department has a minimum of Mtech while some teachers have done PhD. Term exams or IA(internal assessments) are given with a time gap of 1 month and the exam commences at the 2nd month of the semester's academic period. The difficulty level of the papers are moderate and I have not found it difficult to pass, not too easy to excel.

There are no internship that provides stipend in our college and we are yet to make a project which is a part of vtu's curriculum. Internships provided to us are just like summer camp training. For paid internships, we should be exposed to such field in 2nd year itself, but unfortunately our college won't provide such knowledge to us, hence we were not aware of internships.

There is no fees hike in our college as we continue to pay the same amount that we paid at the beginning of every year I.E 89460 (government cet fee). I have not got any kind of scholarship or internship support from the college which provides financial assistance to me.

The annual fest is done every year but since the pandemic, there is no event done in our college. I'm a part of the cultural committee and have managed to have some programs in the middle of pandemics when things were safe. But our college lacks exposure to other colleges as they won't support us to go to any inter college fest nor conduct any inter college fests. The library facility is good with technical books. there are no other books available. Few classrooms are equipped with smart boards while the rest are simple classes. Sports activities are good in our college. Our college also conducts a fest called "Lakshya" for PU students which is helpful both for students and our college for better publicity. As a student from the cultural committee, we have several groups created in Instagram which is one of the social media handled by committee heads of various groups such as the CAT team, NSS club, health club etc
