Review about the college

I took the CAT exam and got 99.78 percentile. The admission process is similar to other top IIMs and was conducted in online mode. The first selection criteria were the CAT score, post which candidates were shortlisted based on CAT score and overall profile of the candidate which included marks in 10th, 12th graduation, and work experience. After that PI was conducted and a final admission list was prepared based on the above scores.

The PGP course at IIM Calcutta is their flagship course and IIM Calcutta is one of the top management institutes in India. The faculty is world-class and the teaching methods followed by them cater to the needs of the industry. The core curriculum includes developing essential skills and knowledge in areas of economics, marketing and sales, Product management, Finance, Consulting. Exams happen on a timely basis. The institute follows a trimester system with an internship after 3rd term. The Faculty-student ratio is 15:1

The summer internship process at IIM Calcutta takes place in the 2nd term and it involved the participation of various companies from finance. marketing, consulting, product management etc. This time 150 companies visited with an average stipend of 1.4 lakhs. The internships start after the completion of 1st year and the duration of the internship is 2 months.

The placement of IIM Calcutta is great. It includes the participation of world renowned firms with offers being made for diverse roles in marketing, finance, consulting, operations, product management, and general management. There were 170 companies that visited the campus offering around 530 jobs. IIM goy 100% placement and mostly the companies were from Consulting, BFSI, Marketing and IT. The average package stood around 28 lakhs and highest domestic CTC of 60 lakhs.

The institute fee currently is 23 lakh for two years. This includes tuition fees and all other charges including the hostel charges. There are scholarships offered to students to support them financially. Some of them are OP jindal, Aditya Birla etc. Placements at IIMC are one of the best in the Industry.

The campus life is vibrant and inclusive with a lot of extracurricular activities. There are over 30+ clubs and SIGs in the institute which focuses on Finance, Marketing, economics, Sports etc. The annual fest is called 7 lakes fest which is a 3-day event and it involves guest lectures from eminent personalities and participation from another premier institute across India.

The hostel provided for students is single accommodation with shared washrooms. Every hostel has its own mess. The food quality provided is good. The hostel allocation process is decided by the hostel committee. Most of the students stay in hostel only as the facilities are good.

After getting shortlist there was WAT taken and no group discussion this year. There was a personal interview that was an evaluative criterion after WAT for admission into IIM Calcutta. The interview was taken by IIM Calcutta faculty and the questions ranged from general affairs and the place from where you belong. Questions based on work experience were also asked in detail to the candidates who had experience.
