Remarks
I applied to all the colleges in Hooghly or near my house because that was the decision my parents wanted. However, I wanted to go outside, that is to, Kolkata. I had applied to Shri Shiksayatan College and Bethune College and The Bhawanipur Education Society College in Kolkata and got into The Bhawanipur Education Society College. I had applied for two courses at The Bhawanipur Education Society College - Journalism and English. I was selected for both courses but opted for English because it is my primary focus. The admission was fair and just. I did not face any problems.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to study English since the beginning of time and have a career as a researcher in English. The faculty to student ratio of a Masters of Arts in English is 19:30. Most of the Faculty of the department of English is from Jadavpur University and Calcutta University. University of Calcutta exams are always tough because the cut off marks is 60% where as in other universities it's 80% and above.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is more in my college is owing to the fact that it is a private institution. It should be seen that there are very few internship opportunities for B.A. or M.A. students, which should be mandatory because after all college is the last stage that prepares us for the real world.
Campus Life
The Extracurricular activities in our college are actually, very lively and it also encourages students to take part in them. We celebrate almost all festivals from Independence day to Saraswati Puja. We have an entire eventful day dedicated to the celebration of Blood Bank. There are all kinds of seminars held, from seminars on Shakespeare to Entrepreneurship. We have a report writing club, a drama club, a band, a dance group called FLAMES.
