Ashutosh Gupta's Review On Indian Institute Of Information Technology - [IIIT], Allahabad

I got IIT Allahabad thorough AIEEE. My Rank in the examination was 8323. I wanted to Study Computer Science and wanted to be a little close to hometown(Lucknow). My first Choice was Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology but could not get it so Opted for the next best option IIT Allahabad IT.

The Course Content is good. Deep Dive is done in each and every subject. However in IIIT Allahabad people are obsessed with Coding and Practise several coding questions on sites like Spoj, Top Coder , Code Forces , Code chef etc. So Data Structures and Algorithm are favourite for most of the student.

For The B.Tech Program There is no internship from college. In 6th and 8th Semester Students have to look out for their own internships in various companies. In 6th Semester internship is for 2 months and in 8th Semester the internship is for 6 Months. Companies visit the campus in 5th Semester to provide Intern Opportunities to Students in 6th Semester.

Placements for Bachelors Program is good at IIT Allahabad. Around 70-75 companies visit the campus to give placements to ECE and IT Guys. Around 60% of the candidates gets dream offers (above 8LPA). Particularly in IT the average is more ranging to around 15-16 LPA. The Placements in ECE Section is a little less with average ranging to about 6-6.5 LPA.

We have our cultural Fest named Effervescence which happened i guess around September Time. The Fest Was 5 day long and comprised of Technical , Cultural , Music and Management Events. Technical Events happened both online and offline for the first 1.5 days and then the next 1.5 days were taken up by management and cultural events.

Since its a government college the fees is not too great. Odd semesters are a little more expensive as compared to the even. Generally the overall expense for 1 year including hostel and everything will be around 80-90k. Scholarships are provided for top 10 performers of respective program batch which helps students to work harder and perform better.

Yes, Scholarship is provided to top 10 performers in each program in the college. A scholarship of around 25000 per semester is paid to such candidates. As far as Loan is concerned I have no idea about the same.

Campus Life is good here. The Campus spawns 100 acres of land with beautiful lightning in the night. There is a sports ground for training of Colleges Football(of which I was a part of) and cricket teams. We had several research laboratories for research purposes and for getting enrolled in good projects under professors. The Gender Ratio was 5(boy):1(girl).

Since the College is Newer and has opened in 1999 only the Alumni Network is not so big. However the college has identified the problem and now the alumni network is growing with time with talented people who are working in highly respected companies.

Labs were conducted on alternate days for practical experience . It was not too hectic as they were not conducted on all days however not too chilled out because you need to come prepared for lab tasks as they were strictly examined. The Examination Process was clean.

I got Admission by Giving AIEEE Exam and securing a rank of 8323. The Process Included Filling out Your Choices on AIEEE Portal and then selecting a college for which you have been shortlisted. I got selected for IIIT Allahabad IT in second round. I opted for it and went to MNNIT where the process of admission and fee deposition took place for IIIT Allahabad.

Faculty is good with some professors being at par. Professors teaching core and main subjects are generally very good and knowledgeable as they know these subjects will be the main contributing factors in a students curriculum. Data Structures and Database are very well taught by Experienced Professors with Practical Tests to test the students learning. Overall The faculty is good.
