RAVENSHAW: EVERY CHILD'S DREAM UNIVERSITY

After the completion of my 12th, I decided to change my stream I was from the science stream and switched to the bachelor of arts with education as the subject of my honours. Talking about the admission process it was quite smooth. I got my seat on the 3rd selection. The universities administration posts 3 rank lists for all the art students and there are no such minimum marks for admission into a course, you need to have a minimum passing mark to get enrolled in the admission procedure. And as per their ranks, people apply for subjects. spot admissions also take place after all the admissions are over and seats are vacant. there is also a provision for a subject change in case you do not resonate or cope up well with the subject you are admitted into. There are provisions for students coming under Sc/ST/OBS/PWD/SPORTS QUOTA/ARMY OFFICIALS QUOTA etc. I was from the general category and didn't avail any. On the day of counselling, students were allotted seats according to their ranks.

I chose this course because it was a practical subject and consisted of the area of my interest. Talking about the student: faculty ratio there is an ample number of teachers for executing teaching facilities with excellency. Well equipped labs and research cells make the entire teaching experience complete. Term Examinations were held each year twice and once per semester to keep up the good flow throughout. The examinations were conducted in an orderly manner and gave wide exposure to all the topics covered in the syllabus. A well prepared student with prior knowledge of facts will perform really well in the exams. teacher's especially conducted remedial classes after diagnosing their student's potentials and flaws.

The courses that are available here are quite affordable and can also be opted by students from the backward sections. Special compensations apply for people under quota. The government provides scholarships to all the backward sections along with those with hearing/visual impairement. A special sholarship is also avaialbler for the students whose parents annual income is less than two lakhs. i didnt get any such scholarships or stipend though i performed really good in all the exams.

The annual fest and tech fest of the university are usually conducted during late December and early January. Other than these fests several book exhibitions, Ranji trophy matches all were conducted here. The students also get a chance to unveil a lot of opportunities in the sports field. The Kanika Library here is the home for a vivid range of books and journals both from Indian and foreign authors. It consists of computers on the ground floor. The second and third floors are equipped with books and journals that can be issued, the fourth floor is open for students the books on the 4th floor cant be issued but you can read them daily by spending some time in the library premises. the classrooms hold a large capacity of students with modern teaching amenities. Well ventilated rooms with comfortable seating are provided to students. The dept conducts all kinds of extra co-curricular activities and awards the winners. Different social groups like AVBP are always there for students in need.
