Entrance Preview
JEE , Rank 3314 I had decided after 12th class that the opportunities and exposure that one gets in IIT Delhi and Bombay is far better than any other IIT. Hence, the reason for choosing the branch was not the main motivation. Rather, which subject is available within the two college was my criteria. It was a selection of college rather than subjects.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, companies come to hire for interns. The GSK, HUL, ITC, etc have way high stipend like 1 lac for 2 months. But the difference is way to high. Say in all of a batch of 800 40 go to these 10-12 companies are selected, they'll get paid 1 lac and PPO's as well .
Placement Experience
It's degrading year over year. Since past 3-4 years number of companies, % of students placed, average package all are coming down. Students end up in depression.
Fee Structure And Facilities
A bit expensive now. My fees was 50k per semester. (acads+hostel). Which now has been increasing steeply from 30k per sem to 70k (may be) now.. JEE is a national platform, we die our asses off to get here. Many are on loans. So can be cheaper as well if supported by scholarships for earning opportunities.
Admission
We get a rank and then fill our priorities. It's pretty clear and transparent and well organised as well. Hence, IIT Delhi was my first priority and I got it. Based on my rank and options I filled somewhere around 15-20 choices i.e. different IIT and subjects combination. The one we get depends on the number of seats, number of students applying for it, the exam results or rather exam pattern of the year, etc.
Faculty
The faculty is pretty good. It varies branch to branch. For instances it can be quantified by the scope of research they have done. Number of publications, awards etc. Some are great, but there are clashes in ideologies. They are not very open to students exposure, activities, events etc. They lack a bit energy may be coz they have been doing the same job for years hence lack of passion and enthusiasm.
