A Comprehensive account- NMIMS

The Colleges I applied to were MDI, SP Jain, NM Mumbai, SIBM Pune, SCMHRD, SIBM Bangalore, SIIB, GIM, and a couple more. I converted all of them except MDI, SP Jain, and SIBM Pune. I didn't avail any Quota. I am a General candidate. The admission process for NMIMS Mumbai included the NMAT test, followed by the CDPI process. There is no age criteria for Admission. The cutoff total score for NMAT 2020-21 was 235 with sectional cutoffs for all 3 at 75 each. The past year had Quants and DI at a moderate to difficult level. The other 2 sections Language Skills and Logical & Analytical Reasoning had an easy to moderate difficulty level. It was an adaptive type paper for the 1st time. Roughly 26-27 correct answers out of 36 would secure a good sectional score. Based on the cutoffs students were given calls for CDPI. Case Discussion this year required the student to write their opinions about the case within 20 minutes. The PI was held shortly after where there were 3 panelists.

I chose the MBA Core course due to my interest in learning the different facades of General Management like Marketing, Finance, Data Analytics, etc. This holistic learning would enable me to take up different roles in multiple verticals in an organization. Faculty: 40-50 approximately Students: 750 in 1 year Faculty: Student ratio= 0.06. The faculty is highly qualified in terms of their education and industry experts bring their experience in their lectures while teaching. The teaching has been on an online mode. In the 1st year, the Course for MBA core is the same for all. MBA HR, Pharma have different curriculum. There is a great mix of subjects from all the domains in the 1st year. One can choose electives at the start of the 2nd year. The examinations were conducted on a regular basis with quizzes and end-term examinations which followed the schedule as given to us in our Course outline. The level of difficulty of the exams was Moderate and challenging.

181 companies came in the recent past. Some of the eminent companies like Goldman Sachs, BCN, Google, Aditya Birla, ITC, Dabur, etc, came to the campus. The roles offered vary from being Marketing/Sales, Finance, Operations, General Management, Product development, etc.

Students sit for their Summer placements from the 2nd Trimester onwards. NM has a trimester system. A total of 181 companies visited the campus for the Summers of 2020-22 batch. 28 of them were from Fortune 500 companies and 90 new recruits. The total number of offers made was roughly 650-700 and still counting. The highest stipend was 3 lakhs and the average stood at 1.2 lakhs. Top 50 offers clocked an average of 2.48 lakhs. The different profiles for which the companies came were IT analytics, Consulting, E-commerce, BFSI, FMCG, FMCD, Retail, Pharmaceutical, Media & Telecom, Logistics, oil, and gas, etc. NMIMS Mum has 100% placement records. After doing my MBA I plan to go back to Corporate and learn and implement at the workplace. Thereby have self-growth and also bring revenues to the company.

Fees for the 1st year for the batch of 2021-23 is Rs 10,95,000. Roughly the two-year course fee structure is approx 22 lakhs for the 2 years. There's been approximately a 7% hike in the fees over the last year. Financial assistance or scholarship depends on special situations based on the family's annual income. According to the Summer Placement Report of 2020-22, the highest stipend was 3 lakhs and the average was 1.2 lakhs with a total of 181 recruiters (28 Fortune 500 Recruiters). The job I got for my Summer Placement is Capgemini with a stipend of 1.1 lakh.

The annual flagship fest at NMIMS, Mumbai is Paragana. It happens during mid-October and spans across a week. It includes competitions organized by all the Clubs and Cells of NM. The competitions are conducted on the d2c portal which includes Quizzes, exciting task-based rounds, and case presentations. The student library contains e-books, annual reports of companies, journal publications, and research papers. It also contains documented course material and NM Question Paper of past years. Classes are conducted seamlessly on the Zoom platform. The lectures can be recorded if the students have a need for them. Class workings are uploaded on the Student portal on the same day. Pre-reads and Asynchronous learnings are mailed to us by the Professors via mail. On-campus sports or activities are currently stalled. Extracurricular activities can be taken up by students based on their interests of students. These are organized by cells. Multiple cells like Placecom, Student Council, NJM, Finomenon, etc are there.

CD topics had caselets that were based on hypothetical situations. For example, the one I got had me provide solution feasibility for nanosatellites. Its cost projection and technical feasibility had to be included. PI questions included personality and hygiene type.
