I applied through MP College counseling on the basis of JEE mains score but I mistakingly applied for the chemical branch which I did not want to take so I applied for the second round and got barkatullah university which was not that good in terms of learning, exposure and there were continuous strikes. I availed for the OBC quota but there was not any fee exemption. I did get post metric scholarship for one year but after that, the minimum limit for that scholarship crossed my family's overall income and i was not able to apply. College also discriminated against me on the basis of my father's profession and told me that I could not get a scholarship. It was depressing since all of my friends' fathers who were contractors, farmers were getting scholarships despite any income criteria. The minimum age for admission was 16 years and the admission process was either on the basis of jee mains or direct entry. I got admission by College level counseling which is quite like direct entry with less fee.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose IT Branch since it has a larger scope for getting high-paying jobs and it has a bright future. Faculty in OCT is very less as compared to OIST since everyone wants to go to OIST. The very high gap in the teacher and student ratio. Faculties are not at all that qualified. I have seen only 3 to 4 professors with Ph.D. degrees in their hands in my 3 years career here. Other qualifications are still a mystery to me. Main exams for each sem are held every 6 months and mid sems are held twice in every sem and the best of one is considered for the result. Both main and mid sem have rookie difficulty since you dont have to focus on gaining knowledge but more on writing 2 to 3 pages essays with attractive handwriting in the minimum time possible.
Internships Opportunities
Nearly no internship and industry exposure from the college side. There are only interested in giving us assignments and mid sems. However full-time analyst, project engineer, and sde roles are offered to placed students. Colleges' focus on projects is a good thing considering it is asked in many interviews. Even i did my minor project in the 5th sem about sentiment analysis which was deployed with increased accuracy. I am also currently working on an android app for fake news detection major project. The outcomes are primarily to learn something new, come up with solutions and innovations and perform better in interviews about them.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible from the final year and this process continues until you graduate and join any company. Capgemini, TCS, hexaware, Wipro, Cognizant, gammastack, and persistent visited our campus recently and I got offers from Capgemini and cognizant. However, only 4 LPA is offered no matter how well you perform. Only a few companies offer high pay. Therefore many students decide to go off-campus. Nearly 80 percent of students get placed here which is not at all bad considering you are a fresher. I decided to join capgemini since my family is not that financially strong to invest in my higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college has an erractic way of increasing our fees. It is going on from the first sem itself. Those having fees less than 70000 were hiked. However mostly it is taken on the basis of bus fee and library fee which i did not even use.Other than this you only have your living expenses. I got post metric scholarship for only one year after that college declared me ineligible. I did not get any financial assistance from the college or government or any other students body. However, if you are desperate about campus selection then this college is not at all bad considering the opportunities.
Campus Life
College tech fests are conducted every 6 months and have bet competitions available to participate. they are organized in September and March. The library is filled with academics or any other book. There are a variety of choices. However, I dont have any idea about the journals. No as such amenities in classrooms. Faculties don't have a good way of teaching and students. Variety of sports available. Even NCC selections were done last year on the 15th of August. All types of extracurricular activities were present however lack of awareness was observed. There are lots of clubs present for 3rd and 4th-year students like software testing, python, full-stack developer clubs, etc. I took part in software testing myself. Also, the college newsletter and blog are maintained by seniors and alumni.
