Remarks

Good aspects:1.freedom to choose subjects from other centers 2.gender equality3.Internationally collaborated research work4.Library open for 24 X 7 only closed for 3 hours in the morningBad aspect:1.heavy propaganda of either left or right. keep your eyes, mind open. there are instances of intellectual rigidity.Newly created in JNU named as SOE. So, there aren't much blogs but you can search on Quora regarding SOE, JNU some posts have been madeYou can also visit official site of SOE, JNU. Course Curriculum Overview

4

As said earlier, it's newly opened in J.N.U. Choose Computer science engineering as was my goal to be a computer engineer and choose J.N.U because of its brand name, which it has not just in India but in the world. The faculty of J.N.U. has a world-class teacher. Our chemistry teacher is from Princeton, Math teacher has taught in the University of Vienna and Ohio, I.P.R. teacher has done a Ph.D. from N.L.U. Delhi, a Physics teacher, has done his Ph.D. from Germany, etc. School of engineering hasNumber of core Faculty: 10Number of quest Faculty: 5 (some are from IITD)Associate faculty is the whole J.N.U Professor available.Link: https://www.jnu.ac.in/se_facultyThere will be undoubtedly qualified faculty members. J.N.U. is ranked 1st by NIRF ranking. As told earlier, faculty members are academically excellent, knowledgeable as well as helpful. Their teaching quality is as per the standard of any reputed I.I.T. The dual degree program curriculum is quite relevant and unique. It will enable students to acquire industry-based skills that help in the sustainable development of society and a vision to improve and provide leadership qualities. Moreover, it helps how to solve real-life problems associated with Indian society.Every mid-term, as well as end term, was held on time. Even during a pandemic when everything shifted to online, classes ran efficiently without any disruption and exams. No political discrepancies happened while conducting the exam of an engineering student at all, whatever the university's situation, which was a plus point.

Placement Experience

JNU SOE first batch to pass out in 2023.Placement and job opportunities are enough in the campus. You can learn many different languages and would be easily placed in foreign countries. The companies that visit i am currently not sure of as I just completed my 2nd year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee hike policy did not affect engineering students. The School of engineering fee structure is different from the rest of the schools in J.N.U. The S.O.E fee structure is implemented by AICTE like the other technical institution's fee structure in India.Fee structure:For all SC/ST/PH = 0(all)For general/OBC,Economical backward students with income less than 1 lakh = 0 (zero)Students with income between 1 lakh to 5 lakh = 20,833for income above 5 lakh = 62,500Institute fee (for all categories)1. Student activity fee (per sem) = 25002. Institute development fee (per sem) = 10003. Admission fee (one time) = 10004. Examination fee (per year) = 10005. Medical insurance (per year) = 5006. Alumni fee (one time) = 10007. Registration fee (one time) = 10008. Security deposit (Refundable : one time) = 50009. Medical fee (annual) = 910. Medical booklet = 12TOTAL =13,021Hostel Fee: 22 k per year + monthly mess bill typically ranging between 2500 and 3000.At start of joining hostel, you have to pay total fee=26,000mess advance (one time) = 10,000mess security (one time) = 5,000Establishment charge (per sem) = 5,000water/electricity bill (per sem) = 6,000No MCM(merit cum marks)scholarship from the university side to any engineering student. Engineering students can get state scholarships from their native state if the university list mentioned by the state has a JNU name. There is no on-campus job placement of engineering students as the senior batch has just completed their 3rd year, and no one is in Pen-ultimate year or final year. But on-campus placement for other undergraduates/graduate backgrounds in JNU has occurred.

Campus Life

5

Our first-ever tech fest, "HackJNU," was conducted from 31 January - 1 February 2020. JNU has a central library for all students. The library has nine floors, and each floor has been assigned to a particular subject and area of interest. Technical books are present on the seventh floor. A wide range of technical books is present from old ones to the latest ones.Cricket tournaments are organized around different hostels. SOE JNU organized its first sports in February 2020. Sports like volleyball, cricket, football, tug-o-war, 100m, and 200m race, long jumps, etc. were played.HackJNU site: https://hackjnu.devfolio.co/#aboutDebate society "Perspective" : https://www.facebook.com/perspectives.jnuseSOE FB : https://www.facebook.com/EngineeringSchoolJNU

Hostel Facilities

4

For now, A dormitory named Damodar hostel had been allocated for engineering students. One room is allotted to 4-5 students. Single rooms are assigned to the seniors based on their jee mains score and semester-wise performance.Damodar hostel is located in front of VC's house. And IITD west gate and our hostel gate are in front of each other across the Aruna Asaf Ali Marg.

Admission

There was no Group Discussion, Interview question, or test pattern. I got admission based on my JEE mains result through JOSSA counseling. NTA conducts JEE mains exam, and institutions like JNU choose qualifying students in a preferable range of rank.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
