Remarks
The major reason for preferring this university to others for B. Sc. (Hons.)- Biotechnology was that the labs in department of Biotechnology are good. A lot of conferences and seminars are organized where we get ample opportunities for presenting our research and review work. This eventually helps in developing confidence and presentation skills. There is provision of scholarship for meritorious students. Faculty is very cooperative and the quality of education is really good. The central library is awesome where one can get all the required books and previous year question papers.
Course Curriculum Overview
Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field; the course curriculum covers all the major subjects under Biotechnology. Three subjects which we have to study besides Biotechnology subjects are- foreign language, communication skills and behavioral science. Overall, there are 8-11 subjects per semester and each subject is taught by a separate faculty member (usually). The class size is 30 students. The faculty members were well qualified with PhD and Postdoc from foreign universities. All the faculty members are very cooperative. Mid-term and End-term examinations are conducted timely.
Placement Experience
After completing B. Sc. (Hons.), one can appear for various MSc entrance exams. The knowledge gained by studying the course will help in cracking these exams and one can also contact faculty members for getting his/her doubts and queries solved. One can also write review and research papers under the guidance of faculty members which if published in a journal can boost CV. Same implies for poster presentation in conference and seminars. B Tech (Biotechnology) students and those pursuing PG courses get placements. One can also pursue PhD from this university.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I received on-admission scholarship (this scholarship depends on Class XII percentage and its continuation depends on the CGPA scored in successive end term examinations). There is provision of Merit-cum-Means scholarship too. At present, there are no placements for B. Sc. students but students pursuing B Tech, MSc and M Tech do get placements.
Campus Life
There a lot of clubs which students can join. The annual fest is Amiphoria, which is conducted in month of February (3 days). Many competitions are organized during Amiphoria in which students can participate and even coordinate in the events. Sangathan is another major event and students good at sports must definitely participate in it.
Admission
I got direct admission because I scored over 90% in class XII. However, students with less percentage must appear for test and interview, as far as I have heard from other students.
