Remarks
The admission process was quite simple. Just applied through Jossa. I got selected in the last round of the process. So previously I enrolled myself into DTU where I was getting Engineering Physics. Later I chose to study in NIT Delhi for two reasons (i) NIT tag, (ii) Better Branch. Admission criteria is quite easy. Get a better score in JEE mains, get a better college and branch. Cut off for this college increases every year.
Course Curriculum Overview
Basically, there were two reasons two join Electrical and Electronics Engineering (i) My interest and Fascination towards this subject (ii) the marks I got weren't good enough to get into Computer Science. The student-faculty ratio is quite balanced here. In a batch, there are 50 students and in every department, there are ample teachers. All the faculty members are quite experienced with their departments, while some have good teaching methods and some do not. The term examinations were moderately difficult to pass. And the grading system is absolutely ridiculous and pathetic. Here "Bell Curve Grading" is used for grading students. It is a grading practice in which students' grades are calculated over normal distribution. So if two students scored the same marks in a test, there is a possibility that one would get higher than the other. They should drop this ridiculous system.
Placement Experience
In the final year, companies come to hire. Many companies visit our college, mostly the software and consultacy ones. The core ones are only Tata and L&T. Our minimum package for 2021 passout students were 5 lakhs. And max was 15. Average was 8-9. Due to pandemic, fewer companies visited our campus, as a result some students remained unplaced. Things are getting better on Placements side now.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are ample scholarships provided for SC/ST students by both Central Government and as well as State Government. Recently fee hike was imposed on students whose enrollment was done after 2021. Our college provides campus placements too. But this year many students remained unplaced. Hostels aren't that good. Neither the mess.
Campus Life
Our college had scarce funds for the fests. So we had to combine our both Tech fest and Cultural fest into 2-3 day event. We were never able to afford any good celebrity. Those were pretty lame fests. We tried our best to make it a better one, but we needed the funds there. The library is pretty good here, we don't have to buy books from outside, and the college also provides an online book reading facility. Classrooms are good enough, projectors are installed in every classroom. Our college has many sports teams, they every year represent our college in inter NIT sports tournaments. Football, volleyball, Cricket, kabbadi, badminton, athletics, table tennis, you name it - every possible sport has a team here. Quite encouraging environment. Apart from the inter-NIT tournaments, our college hosts sports fests too. Our college has several students managed clubs such as Tech club, Drama club, Literary, Photography, etc
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is quite simple here, nothing fancy about it. We had to pay 10k per semester and fooding/ mess were mandatory before. Mess food was horrible. Way too unhealthy and distasteful. Many times we have found insects in food, and complained about it to authorities too. Preferably you could take PG or Flat with mates near college.
