Gaurav D Singh's Review On Vishwakarma Government Engineering College - [VGEC], Ahmedabad

Exam name was GUJCET I secured 250 rank in CBSE merit list. This college is one of the best government college in Gujarat. Also it is in my home city.

Course was diverse covering major fields in Computer Engineering domain. There were proper course for research fields like Data Structure, Compiler Design, Artificial Intelligence, etc. Two electives subject were Applied Electronics and Energy Systems.

Our college does not provide any internship but the faculty are more than helpful in providing references of companies for internship.Average stipend provided in companies is around 5-10k per month. But the internship is not mandatory in university curriculum.

Placement is good compared to other colleges. Around 70 percent eligible students who appeared in placements were placed in one or more companies. Average packages offered is around 2-3 LPA.

Many festivals are organised in the college. Every year one technical and one cultural fest of holded. Also since IIT gandhinagar was using our college buildings, there festivals are also organised in our campus. Festivals are organised on not very big scale but had lots of things. I mostly participated in tech fest events like live gaming, coding challenge, etc.

Fee structure is very feasible. Since it is Government Aided Institute, fees is around Rs 1500 per year. In addition to this amount , every semester exam fees of approx Rs 125 per subject is applicable. But we are awarded scholarship and also fee wavier is applicable as per situations.

Since i have not taken any scholarships, i don't have good idea about them but as i mentioned, scholarships are provided to students with merit marks.

Hostel are pretty good keeping in mind Regional Government Institute standards. Most rooms are three sharing based with bathrooms provided in each room. Average rent is around 1.5-3k per year for the person. But hostel is provided on basis of priority to students living in other cities. But there are nearby PGs providing accomodations.

Alumni network was not available till our time but senior students are very polite and helpful. Although timing were different for two consecutive years students so interaction with direct senior students was minimal but seniors were kind.

Exam structure is provided by GTU and is same for all the colleges. There would be one mid-semester exam of 30 marks and an end-semester final exam conducted by GTU of 70 marks. There are multiple choice, shorts, long and detailed QA in the exams. Everyday there will be lab work for one subject but it doesn't leave students tired.

After my seat was alloted in this college, i procured form from the college's admission office. Along with form, i submitted marksheets. Notification was released in month of june and july in GTU website to get the forms from college's office. Administration was helpful in filling up the form.

Faculty of the college were not the best but has very good experience in their field. They are hard working and knowledgeable. I liked couple of faculty there like Prof. Uttam, Prof Sanjay and Prof Nakul in Computer Department. Most of the faculties are post graduated in their field.
