Entrance Preview

CET (2001), Ranking: 2670, I was looking for a college where placement and teaching faculty was good and this college met all those criteria.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum was set by VTU. First two semesters we have to learns subjects related to all engineering departments + maths + physics and chemistry. Next 6 semesters it was completely related to your branch. Till 2005 batch we are supposed to do more than 9 projects in 4 years, later it was shortened to 3 projects in 4 years.

Internships Opportunities

When we were studying that time there was no concept of internship, so I can't give more feed back on this.

Placement Experience

5

We had a very good placement department headed by Mr. Dattakumar. Every year more than 80% of the students in the class were getting placed in well known companies. We used to have mock placement activities and our seniors used to conduct mock placement exams for us. Companies used to visit the campus at the end of 6th semester. Some of the companies that I can list are: Infosys, TCS, CTS, Yahoo etc.

College Events

4.5

We used to have IEEE fest every year and our lecturers were encouraging us to take part in that. Every year there were lot of technical seminars were conducted by the college. Even students are encouraged to put their new thoughts through different technical competitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It s was feasible for general merit students. I paid Rs. 9000/- per year. If you are coming from management quota then it is expensive. Before 2005 it was around 8 to 10 lakh for computer science engineering seat. Based on your score in the 1st and 2nd semesters you are allowed to change the branch if any seats are available.

Fees and Financial Aid

That time (means before 2005) we did not had scholarship or loan facility, so I can not give my feedback on this. But students who are joined from SC/ST quota they were free to use the library books through out the year.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life was good. It was 60 : 40 (Boys to Girls) ratio. Campus was designed by Civil department of the college. It was very well planned. There were 40% of land was reserved for planting the trees. Labs were average. We had very old computers in our department. But physics, chemistry labs were excellent. Students are encouraged to take part in Sports. Our physical director Shankar was having excellent work ethics.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel was very good. Food was decent and it is value for money. 1st year students used have separate wards and senior students are restricted from entering it. So it was very good for 1st year students there were no raging reported during my stay in the hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

We have good alumni network. College has its own web site through which we will get regular notifications about the different events that are happening in the college.

Exam Structure

The exam structures were decided by out university i.e. VTU. Usually the internals (first 2) were very tough to crack. The valuation was very strict in the internals. We used have enough gap between the exams or test and we will be intimated about the exam or test well in advance.

Admission

Admission was through CET seat selection process. Once we get confirmation letter from CET we have to visit the college. Morning they will have a session to explain us about the college and its history. Later pay the donation (that time it was Rs. 5000/- for GM seats) and that confirms your seat in the college.

Faculty

4.5

Faculties were really good. Maths and Physics departments were having excellent staff that time. Our department HOD, TH Shrinivas was a very knowledgeable person and we are privileged to have him as our HOD. Most of the staffs (who are permanent) were very good. But for few subjects we had new comers who very new to teaching.
