Entrance Preview

I took, Karunya Entrance Exam which will be conducted all over india to earn a seat in Karunya University. I scored 86% in the entrance test and got a free seat (with out Admission fee), though i have paid 15k per semester during 2006-2010.

Course Curriculum Overview

Hard copy of course curriculum were distributed while beginning of the semester. The same is available on the students login in the college intranet which can be accessed in the hostels and also in labs. Course curriculum was designed with a focus on getting introduced to all subjects in Bioinformatics.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our university/college provided me internship. This was provided to only merit students (people who score more than 8.0 CGPA each semester). I have given 8k per semester for 6 sems.

Placement Experience

Unfortunately, since i was in very second batch in Bioinformatics in my college, we did not had core jobs. But many IT companies has come to hire Bioinformatics students for IT support and IT developers. Almost, 60% of my batch got placed in IT companies like (LG, Wipro and Infosys).

College Events

There are always, symposium technical workshops and conferences. We can benefit from the industry talks given by the working professionals during the conference. Technical symposiums and workshops were the platform for us to showcase our posters and our work to the department students (Juniors and Seniors).

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee was feasible. I paid 15k per semester during 2006-2010. Apart from, semester fee, student has to pay towards, canteen fee (once per month), library fee (once per year) and exam fee (once per semester).

Fees and Financial Aid

Students can avail loan facility. Merit students has a opportunity for getting stipend of 8k per semester.

Exam Structure

We have two internals per semester, third internal (Optional : to gain more marks, best of 3 internal marks were considered). Quiz for all subjects. Main semester exams (Both Theory and Lab) It was no so hectic, you would have enough time to prepare for your exams.

Admission

After results entrance exam results were out, i have received a rank card and admit card. Based on the percentage in the entrance exam, i was asked to choose among Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in admission counselling. I was called for admission to the university to go through further admission procedure like Text books (first semester), lab uniform etc.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

Karunya University - Review (From a current Student)

Placement Experience:

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements in their final year. Many reputed companies like accenture, TCS, zoho, HCL, etc. visited and many of my friends also got placed with a good package. The highest package from my batch was 50lpa in company called motorq. The average package is around 4lpa.

Placement Experience:

The students become elgible for placements right from the 5th semester of their course work. The students who have no standing arrears become elgibile in the first place. There are many companies visiting the college where Infosys, Cognizant, Virtusa are the mass recruiters. The are many other companies like TCS, Wipro, Zoho etc. visiting the college placement drive. On overall 90% of students gets placed every year. The highest package of 25lakhs per annum was offered by amazon for 3 students. My plans after getting degree is to get placed in any of the company.

Placement Experience:

From final year students and 3rd-year students eligible for attending the campus placements in this campus so many companies are there like Wipro, wheels India, so many IT companies in this average package starting as 18000 to 40000 students should have a minimum percentage of 6.80cgpa eligible for placement I completed the degree I got a placement on IT company.

The proximity of the college to my state and the ease of travel was way simplified for me. College is very safe and secure especially for girls.
