Nirma University- a fantasy.

I applied for my btech. in electrical engineering in NIRMA UNIVERSITY, L.D.C.E. and V.G.E.C. as I live in Ahemdabad. I was fortunate enough to get admitted into NU, one of the finest university of Gujarat in first round of A.C.P.C. (councelling of gujarat) itself. I didn't availed any qouta for my admission, my admission for completely on merit basis and I am from General category. After your Gujcet and board result you have to apply for A.C.P.C. counsellimg online. Keep refering the dates of rounds for admission. Do choice filling of the respective rounds, generally there are 3 rounds and the first two rounds are very important. If you want premier institutes such as NU/LDCE you have to score 100+ out of 120 marks in gujcet and 98 percentile+ in boards if you are in open category. You must be atleast 17 years of age and atmost 19 years of age to apply for councelling rounds.

I was very fond of electric circuits, magnets and semiconductors. So I decided to pursue my career in electronics. Also, it is an evergreen branch of engineering and the increasing demand of electricity and development of gadgets, I decided to jump into this beautiful field. Faculty:student ratio in NU electrical engineering was 7:120 per semester, depending upon the various subjects in every semester teachers were allocated. Quality of teacher in NU cannot be compared to any state level institute in Gujarat, they are supreme. Faculty is very knowlegdeable to explain concepts in depth with practical examples. They solve all your doubts with full joy and respect (if you are serious about studies). Exams were held every semester and in between a few periodic tests took place, just like in school. Exams were not that difficult to pass, if you know concepts you can clear them.

Almost everyone who appears for placements are provided core internships from ADANI POWER, TORRENT POWER, GPCL, JNA electrical,INTEL, tesla, Aditya Birla group, etc. Electrical panel control engineer , Power control engineer, circuit designer are the major roles offered as an intern in these companies. Projects are based on - Radar and Navigation systems, design develop and test electrical equipments , power generation equipments, designing of electrical parts of automobiles, Circuit designing,etc.

Students can apply for intenships anytime in their whole course. On campus internships are provided from 3rd or 4th year itself depending upon the course. Companies that visit NU- Amazon, Flipkart, Google, Morgan stanley, IBM, Microsoft, Accenture, Infosys, TCS, Torrent power, Adani power, GUJARAT POWER CORPORATION LIMITED, Relaince power, Johnson's and Johnson's, Sunpharma, and many more technical and non technical companies. Around 230+ companies visits campus every year so chances of getting job are very high. Computer science students gets highest package every year. Talking about Electrical engineering, Highest pakage - 15lpa , average package- 6lpa, and lowest being 2lpa. Roles offered in my course- Power control engineer, SIgnal intepreter, Circuit designer/ planner, Network engineer, etc.

Fees in NIRMA UNIVERSITY are very high and not everyone can afford. Fees in NU for b.tech program is around 1.5lac per year, which is very high. If you stay in hostel then the cost reaches to around 2lac per year.But believe me all the money spend as fees are worth it due to high placements offered. There are many scholarships schemes offered by both NU and Gujarat government. Some of them are - MYSY scholarship, CMSS scholarship, Jindal scholarship, Colgate scholarship, DIGITAL GUJARAT scholarship, HDFC bank scholarship and many more depending upon your annual income and your category. I personally got MYSY scholarship, availing that ,my annual cost without hostel was around 1lac, considering the scholarship amount that MYSY provides I suggest everyone who are eligible in this scholarship, to get this scholarship (to get financial aid) - This is just my advice, rest it is your decision.

NU-tech is NIRMA UNIVERSITY organised biggest technical fest, students across India participates and NU students get official leave to prepare for it. I-fest is also similar kind of fest but it comprises of both technical and non-technical activities. Besides, Horizon, Vaudeville are some of the famous cultural fests organized here. Also, celebrations like Navratri, diwali, holi, Uttrayan takes place. Library containes wide range of books, journals, newspapers. e-books are also available. Classrooms are very big filled with fresh air from surrounding trees. Blackboards, projectors, labs, workshops are up to the mark. There is cricket groumd, tennis court, indoor game club house, swimming pool, basketball court inside the campus. Overall sporting and extra curricular activities are great. Sports competition takes place every year. Fiesta, Prakriti , Chehre and XquixIT are various clubs arranged by students as cultural activities- Source NIRMA UNIVERSITY WEBSITE.
