Life at St Xavier's

After my 12 I applied to various colleges like Umesh Chandra, St Xavier's College Kolkata. I finally took admission to Xavier's because it's one of the most reputed colleges in the country. It came 4th in NIRF college ranking. I didn't avail any quota my admission was totally on a merit basis. For taking admission in bcom marks of best 4 subjects is taken into consideration in which Marks of maths and English were compulsory and other 2 as per choice. The admission process was totally online and it was very easy one can even contact the technical team for help.

I chose b.com because it is widely taken by commerce background students after 12 and i wanted a careers in accounting and finance. The faculty for b.com is quite experienced and knowledgeable every teacher is very experienced in their respective fields and students to teach ratio is 1:55. Every teacher has completed master's or ph.d in their respective fields, some are Even doctorate. Their are usually 2 exam in one semester, with assignment for each subject. Exams are bit difficult to score.

I gave interview in 3 companies during my first semester and got selected in new Indian Express in their marketing department. Generally an interview or exams are taken to evaluate students. Deshaw company also took my exam but i was not selected

Students usually get placement from the 2nd semester onwards. Various companies like pwg, kpmg , amazon, Delloite visit our college. The package tends to be around 20k-50k pm almost 20% of students get placement from the college. My plan is to complete my professional course of ca with college.

There is usually not much fees hike. As the fees for bcom morning is considerably but the fees for b.com evening is almost double as compared to the morning. I worked as an intern with New Indian Express their is also various other companies that visit the college.

There are lots of fests and activities taking place year-round. The most famous in the city is ignite which is a carnival, xavotsav is quite famous in the city which is usually conducted in January. It has one of the biggest libraries in the city I must say it Even has e-library facilities. Classrooms are normally equipped with ac. There are various societies in the college like Xavier's commerce society, Xavier's management society, theoretical society, etc. All the societies are run by students and they conduct various events the entire year like speaker sessions in which renowned person of various fields come and share their experiences, even various competitions are conducted by these societies.
