Remarks
The admission process for Management Development Institute's PGDM program is fairly simple. Students who have taken the CAT exam are eligible to participate in the admission process. The forms are normally available on MDI Murshidabad and MDI Gurgaon college websites by the end of December. The college application form cost roughly around Rs 1200 last year. This year's cut-off was set at an average of 85 percentile. After clearing the cut-off students were required to attend the Personal Interview round's onset date and wait for the final shortlisting to be released. However, due to an increase in the number of seats, students having close to 75 percentile also got a chance into the college. The admission committee of MDI Murshidabad is also very approachable and serves its best to solve the queries related to the admission procedure,
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum of Management Development Institute Murshodbad is quite flexible and chnages with th needs of the industry. There is a tredemendous amount of practical learning available. The professors are also quite nice and a cuple of them are from both the institutons, that is MDI Gurgaon and MDI Murshidbad, which provides us a good advantage. Currently, our exams were condusted offline and we jad to sit for online proctured exams in Cocube. The experience was hasssle free and smooth. The questions asked was related to everything taugh in class except for HR subject where students had to share from their past effects and their ideas to carry a good organizational culture, CSR activities and related stuffs. The marks were again released showing the marks distribution very nicely based on prject work, mid-term, end term, class participation etc. Overall, the learning and academic is good.
Internships Opportunities
Major recruiters that visited the campus last year for summer internships were Digit, ICICI, RRB advisors and many more. The roles offered were quite well such as Digital Marketing, Financial analyst, Retail Manager, HR etc. The summer placement season for the batch of 2021-23 is going full-fledged mood with Digit, ICICI, Moody, Manyawar, Trariti and many others already been to campus. Many more are yet to come.
Placement Experience
MDI Murshidabad is on a growing stage. With a course fee of around 12.25 lakhs, it has a very return on investment. Last year the average placement was 10 lakhs with the highest being 26 lpa. The placement season is active now. With the dual efforts of both TPO and placement cell, the college is even doing better to bring new opportunities for its students. Major recruiters last year were PWC, KPMG, Jio Creative Labs, SBI Life Insurance, Aditya Birla Retail, and many more. Taking the current situation, it is forecasted that very soon in the coming years MDI Murshidabad will be considered among the top colleges with its brand name helping to achieve the goal.
Fees and Financial Aid
For a two-year PGDM programme, the total cost is roughly around 12.25 lakhs. State Bank of India and Canara Bank have partnered with MDI Murshidbad so obtaining a loan from these two banks is quite simple due to ther A+ and A college rankings. The loan procedure starts by applying on Vidya Lakshimi Portal for both the banks from where you can either select any two of the schemes like 'Vidyaturanth' from Canara Bank or SBI scheme. Also, it is very easy to get ypur loan sanctioned from SBI Omarpur branch. This bank is very closed to the premises of MDI Murshidabad and so very easy to get the process done. Besides this, MDI Murshidabad provides 100 percent scholarship to students coming from North East India. In my time, college had provided me with all the documents needed to get a loan sanctioned. Also, the admission office was so good that it extended the deadline of fees payment when they found few students were yet to get their laons sanctioned.
Campus Life
Currently, due to the ongoing covid scenario, college campuses are closed. Classes and all other activities are held online. At MDI Murshidabad, there are a number of committees. To list a few comes to the Placement cell followed bY PR Media & Web Committee which is responsible for the extensive coverage of all the extensive activities occurring in the college. Other than this there are various other clubs like Annexus which is an alumni committee, Akriti which organizes cultural fest and fun activities, Sportscom which is held responsible for conducting sports events. After the admission process is completed, google forms are released by different clubs and committees where every candidate can nominate themselves for the role. A short PI session is held and the senior club members pick the best suitable ones from the junior batch.
Hostel Facilities
The campus has two different buildings, one for girls and the other for boys. There are single occupancy rooms that are nonac. One washroom at each floor. The laundry service is taken care of and a washing machine is also available. The hostel and mess committee and very cleaned and serve timely as said by the members that are at campus right now. They often make extra orders if asked to do an extra payment. Both veg and non-veg servings are provided.
Interview Experience
For the admission round, students were called upon to sit for Personal interview rounds. At my time, there were three panelits that asked me about myself, my future prospects, my key interest areas and why I wasn't to do MBA after having a bio background. There were no Group DIscussion or written tests except for qualifying CAT. I would also recommend the future aspirants to be well versed with current affairs because that would help them to prepare for the PI round. Overall, it was a good experience all in one.
