For getting admissions into IIM Amritsar, one needs to take the CAT. After the CAT results, one need to separately apply for IIM Amritsar PGDM program, by filling the application form, which costs around 2000. One should note that IIM Amritsar conducts its own interview for admission and does not comes under CAP (common admission process). The course is really well curated and includes all the academic rigor that one should face in an MBA program. The subjects included in the program are well updated and classroom learning is filled with live industry examples and cases. The faculty are highly trained and have actually worked in top corporates in a responsible position. They work their best to make the classroom learning interactive. Everyone is involved in the classroom and hence there is a great peer learning opportunity as well. The faculty: student ratio is about 1:10. Most of the faculty are experienced and are from the old IIMs. I particularly chose this course because of its pedagogy and academic rigor and the sheer amount of learning it would provide me.

Several top companies visit the campus for offering Interships including icici lombard, icici bank, axis bank, hdfc bank, rbi, Cipla, polycab, crompton, V-guard, etc. A variety of roles are offred depending on the interest of the students like marketing, sales, startegy , consulting, finance. During the 2 months of intership students are given challenging roles for their greater learning and development.

Placements activities are at the campus itself. Students from the start of 4th trimenster itself become eligible for final placemnts. These are a total of more than 140 companies visited the campus for final placements with prominent recruiters including accenture, aditya birla capitals, anand rathi, bisleri, cipla, delhivey, deloitte, EY, KPMG, evalueserve, grant thornton, groupm, hafele, hdfc bank, icici lombard, icici bank, infosys, L&T, Mindtree, Ploycab, RBI, Tech Mahindra, MI, etc. According to the previous placement reports average package offered was 12.68 and highest stood at 18.16. 100% of the batch gets the placement from the campus.

The fees structure is 13.2 lakhs for 2 years including all the tuition, books and cases material, library, IT and computer, hostels and electricity, medical and Students activities. An additional fee of 25000/trimester is charged for the mess and personal expenses. However, there is no component wise breakup of the above mentioned fees. Scholarships are provided to students based on thier profiles, interview performance and CAT percentiles. Financial assistance is also given to students with proper reasons and certificate. All assistance in job right from preparing the correct CV to summer intership to final placements is offered by the management and seniors.

Life at the campus is full of energy and enthusiasm. There are a lot of activities and fest going on on the campus like sports activities (Kritansh), annual fest (Aarunya), etc. People participate in these activities with full zeal. There is abundant availability of books and journals in the library and also several other paid journals are provided in online mode. Also, there are lots of other clubs and committees on campus like operations club (operazeal), marketing club (Markhophilic), cultural committee, etc. which function actively and one can become a part of the same as their interests.

Hostel facilities provided are very good and spacious. In the first year, people are given sharing accomodation with an attached bathroom facility. Each student is provided with a study table, chair, and wardrobe. The food quality is very good with cleanliness well maintained. Food quality is also inspected by the management from time to time. There is no limit on the quantity of food served at the mess. The surrounding is very scenic and beautiful from the hostels. Hostels are situated in a place called blessing city, where the airport is only 1 km away. All the rooms provided are also well furnished and daily cleaning facilities for rooms and bathrooms are provided.

Yes, GD and interview are a part of the selection process and one has to mandatorily go through the same for selection. Written tests as of now are not included. Gd topics will mostly be current affairs of national and international importance. Also, current business news like recent M&A, covid effect on business and stock markets. Interview questions will be largely around the CV submitted or the SOP written for the institute. Preparation for this round could be done with friends by discussing and taking each other interviews. Also, taking a GDPI course from some coaching classes can help.
