Remarks

A candidate needs to score atleast 90 marks in both Mathematics and English both. And further more than 90 marks in any of the two remaining subjects apart from 6th subject. Marks of Mathematics is compulsory for every under graduate couurse except in B.A. (Hons). So in short one needs to score around 93% atleast to get through first cutoff list. And the last cutoff stands at 91%. Generally 3 cutoff lists are released but in some of the courses only 2 cut off lists are also released. 500-800 seats are available in each course. Under graduate classes take place both in morning as well as evening shift. Various quotas are there like sports, drama, literature etc. Complete admission process is completed through website only. Fees of morning and evening classes are different.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

All the faculty members are just top notch. Many doctrates also take classes in under graduate courses. Each class has a mentor/counsellor for the students to guide them academically and support them emotionally. There is no scope for rot learning, each and every concept is explained through its practical application via use of technology like excel sheets, presentations and etc. In first year a subject for holistic development is also taught for students all round development. Term exams are conducted right on time. There are no delays in commencement of examination. Semester wise calendars are issued to keep the track of the courses right on time. Exams are not difficult to pass at all if have paid attention in the regular classes and have done self study in due time. 40% is the passing criteria in all the subjects. Further separate marks are given for assignments, attendance and mid-terms which are eventually aggregated in the final semester examination.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships give a wholesome experience of the corporate culture. Companies like pWc, Deloitte, KPMG usually hire interns for assistance to senior in projects of data analysis, R&D, accounting etc. As such no big projects are given to the interns, the usually have to follow the leader but they are always open to suggestions. An intern can get upto Rs 5000-10000 a month for getting a taste of the changing corporate culture of the new India.

Placement Experience

4

After completion of the whole course, off-campus placements start taking place. Companies like Deloitte, pWc, etc. Offer campus placement. Nearly around 70% of the students get placement with an average package of Rs 3-4 lac. a year. The highest package goes upto 6-7 lac. a year. Students usually get placements for the post of accountants, managers, bank officers etc. I am currently pursuing CA, so after getting the degree my plan is to contine the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

An annual hike of around 5%-10% in fees is expected but all of that is covered by unlimited access to world-class libraries and other research facilities which are offered free of cost all around the year. In 3rd year of under graduate courses students are offered internships in big 4s like Deloitte, pWc etc. The stipends of these interships not only boosts ones confidence and knowledge but also provide financially that it can cover annual fees of the last year. Cost to study is quite great as compared to the facilities provided.

Campus Life

4

Xavotsav is one of the biggest college fests of the country organised by our St. Xaviers College, which takes place once a year in the month of January. A huge no of participants take part in various nonacademic activities like dancing, singing, sports, drama, poetry, etc. Distinguished celebrities like Biswa Kalyan Rath, Neha Kakkar have also performed at the fests. Other than this there are various socities in college for students for development their skillsets, like Xaviers Commerce Society (XCS), Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), Xaviers Finance Society (XFC), etc. Separate sports clubs are there for badminton, football, cricket, chess, hockey, lawn tennis etc. These socities also work for the welfare of the environment adopting eco-friendly measures in their operations.

Other Applied Colleges

Bhawanipore Educational Society College, Kolkata | B.Com

This college didn't offer a holistic environment for all round development like St. Xaviers.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
