My Life With The IAM Family

In the year 2019 when I went for my admission, the college administration have me a given date to come and sit for my entrance exam. It was based on MCQ's. After that, the director of the college called me to her office for a personal interview round (PI) she asked about my hobbies, family background, school and also why hospitality? And then i waited for 15mins right after that I got my acceptance letter.

I chose this course because I have a family history in the hospitality industry and it's a fast growing industry with not only the opportunity to work locally but also international. Our faculty members are very supportive and always encouraged me to come out of my nutshell and showcase my talent. They are friendly yet strict. They helped me in my grooming, in self development and also helped me get over my fears. The qualification of our faculties is that they have all passed from a hotel management college and have worked in this industry for many years so they know the ups and downs of this Industry and they shape us according to the industry. The teaching methods were great too we had theory classes and even practical classes where we get to do things physically that were taught to us in our theory classes. Term exams were always on time. We had midterm first which is all MCQ's and then we have a final term where we have written, viva and practical exams.

The internship is for 6months give and take after the end of sem 2 we get ready to hit the industry and train in all four departments to gain experience and then we get to choose our preferred departments to do our specialization in. The college will ask if we want hotels in Kolkata or outside kolkata according to that our CVs will be sent to different hotels. Then few get shortlisted by the HR of that hotel and then we are called for our interviews. Stipend starts from 500-1200 per month.

Students are eligible after the fifth semester for campus placements. The placement of any student happens when thier attendance is 70 and above also needs to have clearance from the accounts department and all the other departments as well only then the college provides us with our NOCs and if the attendance is less the students are then required to take extra classes before being placed anywhere.

Fees structure:- 1st year - 130,000. 2nd year - 140,000. 3rd year - 130,00. Total= 4 lakhs. Campus Jobs- Yes, the college helps us get placement after our academic studies are over. The college gets in touch with various hotels not only in Kolkata but outside Kolkata and outside India as well.

Life on Campus- It's both hard work and fun going hand in hand. We get to play cricket and badminton on campus. We also host a annual cricket tournament as well as football tournament. We have a mini food fest which is around August where all three sections have to cater for outside students from different schools willing to join our IAM family after their+2 studies. We host this mini food fest for three days. It has to have a theme, we need to decorate our college according to the theme as well as dress. Our annual food fest which is Khaddyotsav which is held in the month of December. Here also the event is theme based. We the students of IAM and then divided into our preferred departments The front office takes care of the entertainment Housekeeping takes care of all the decorations Food and beverage takes care of serving the guest And food production takes care of cooking the food We start preparing for this event 2-3weeks in advance. We held the food fest of our families and friends.
