Entrance Preview
In Scottish Church college only in Physics department and BBA department there is an admission test at the UG level. In all the other departments at the UG level admissions are based on marks secured during the Class 12 Board Examinations. So, basically i never had to sit for any admission test as i opted for Political Science honours at the UG level.
Course Curriculum Overview
Scottish Church college is affiliated to Calcutta University for all the UG courses and hence follows the syllabus prescribed by the Calcutta University. The syllabus of Arts and Science subjects was last changed in 2009 and it is now in fine tune with any other major universities in India.
Internships Opportunities
Yes our college does provide internship to all those students who wants to earn experience. In our college we have a dedicated personal dealing with all this matter. The college Placement Officer is responsible for guiding the students and helping them find jobs in good companies after they pass out of college.
College Events
In our college we have the following cultural programmes Departmental Fresher's, Union Fresher's, Caledonia. The annual festival of Scottish Church College held for a period of 5 days & arguably one of the best fest in Kolkata).
Fee Structure And Facilities
In our college the fees are quite reasonable. In some government sponsored courses like English , Political Science, Sanskrit, Philosophy, History, Bengali the fees payable per year is around ₹8000 only. In some self financed courses like BBA, Computer Science, B.Com, Micro Bio the fees maybe as much as ₹50,000 per year.
Hostel Facilities
We have 5 college hostels. Three for boys and 2 for girls. All the rooms available are on a 2 or 3 sharing basis. Only a handful are single rooms. All rooms are non ac. But the hotel food is sumptuous and good. The hostel fees is Rs 35000 per year. But the hostel is not large enough to accomodate all the 1700 students at Scottish.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the college seniors and alumni is very helpful. Notable alumni of our college includes Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
Exam Structure
No, In Scottish we have to basically appear for three tests in a year. The first is Mid term held in the month of November. The next is selection exams which is held in January- March and the third is University exams which is held between April-June.
Faculty
The faculty of our college is very good as Scottish Church College being an Christian Minority Institution has its own appointment making powers. So in conclusion it can be said that the standard of the faculty is very high.
