Honest Review of UIET

To take admission to this college I had to register through the JAC Chandigarh website. Eligibility of this course is qualified in jee main and 10+2 75% + marks. Reservation benefits: N.A. No, the admission process is pretty smooth.

I choose IT because IT has really good job opportunities in the future and also IT and CSE have the best placements which u can see in the statistics also. Faculty Student ratio is average around 1:20 and if you have any doubt you can ask the faculty. We have a branch and batch coordinator for every branch so we can ask them any doubts. The faculty of PU are well qualified, some of our teachers are doing PhD in PU only. Exams are very flexible. They are not always held timely. For example, Our First year semester exams were held late by around 3 months compared to the 3rd and 5th semesters. 2nd example: our 3rd year semester exams have also been postponed due to some reasons which are not even clarified to us. Since our UIET is under PU so it's affected by the protests and elections which can have an effect on our exams and fees be it positive or negative. For example, there was a protest to keep our exams online too. Since its online exams, it's relatively easier to pass it

There are fewer companies that usually visit for internships for the 3rd or 2nd year. Usually, you have to look for an offline internship by yourself which can be helpful for your resume To crack an internship, you need a good resume which notable and unique projects (not copied) and the skills required for the role. I have not taken any since I'm in 3rd year only.

Students become eligible for campus placement from the last year or 7th, 8th semester Offers made: Amazon-4, American Express-9, Deloitte-52, KPMG-33, Cognizant -72, Optum-UHG -10, ZScalar- 6, ZS Associates- 23, Paytm- 3, PolicyBazaar- 4, Data( from official website). Highest package- 31 lakh(Google)(off campus). 30 lakh(Amazon)(On campus) Average package - Around 7 lakh. The percentage of students getting placed from IT and CSE is around 90%, for ECE around 60 and lesser for EEE, MECH and BIO(less than 25). My plans are to get a good placement in a top tech company.

The fees of UIET is better than most colleges that you will get at this rank since it comes under PU a gov college. That was one of the reasons I chose this college. Its fees per year(course) is only around 90 to 1 lakh. So for the whole 4 years course, it's under 4 lakh which is way better than private colleges like Thapar which change around 25 lakhs. This was without the hostel fees. If you get a hostel it will be around 10k only. The fee hike is not much & even if they hike it too much or give you too little time to pay it can be flexible because of pressure from PU student groups. Example: You can now give semester fees in 4 instalments than 2 bcoz of pressure from the student groups. I was not eligible for any scholarship or financial assistance.

Annual Fest- Goong conducted in March ( not conducted in 2021 due to Online classes). Tech Fest- HackUiet conducted in November. Sports Club if Uiet manages many sports fests like Umang and funfest and Sportszilla(online). There is a basket ball and tt court in UIET. Since UIET comes under PU, you can use the various badminton basketball cricket football courts of the campus. There are many clubs run by students notably: Sports, Brand Promotion Committee, Training and Placement Cell, Entrepreneurship and Development Cell, Mitra (social help), Dance club, Euphoria (music) club, Imagen (photography), STAR - alumni relations, Psych- mental health club, Programming club and more.
