Remarks
You should have a decent score in JEE Mains. Apply for JAC Chandigarh which is easily available on its official site. Admission happens on behalf of your AIR, not your category rank. Though, the cut-off changes according to your category. The process is pretty simple for applying in JAC Chandigarh, even the administration helps you. You can mail it or contact it if you come across any difficulty.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for mechanical as I am not a tech geek and I even do have an inclination towards physics and maths. Who can ignore the love for cars. The curriculum is according to the latest scenario, there isn't much gap between what is going around and what is being taught. We are given working projects straight from the first year, which I believe helps a lot to boost our confidence. Faculty: student ratio is great, close to 1:50. All the professors are PhD holders, but few of them teaches sincerely. You would find the same scenario even in IITs. Examinations are held accordingly, but sometimes the management screws it up. The majority of the time only that much is asked which is taught in class but some professors as you know.
Internships Opportunities
Internship I can't tell much about. I am in the second year only. But few seniors that I know have got interned (CSE IT). Like every engineering, college students start applying for internships from the 3rd year onwards.
Placement Experience
Pre COVID the placement for mechanical was low. I couldn't say what will happen now. But CSE IT ECE they always had the best placements, 90% of students do get place through the campus placement. Highest has gone to 18 lpa. For the mechanical, post COVID I believe it will be a great challenge. But Chandigarh is a city full of opportunities so you can find a way for yourself.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are the best part. It's affordable, you don't pay 15-18 lakhs, some private colleges charge 25+. You pay 4lakhs for 4 years that's I believe is great! For EWS that amount reduces even more. And even if you face any hard time paying this, they do provide scholarships too. But you can avail yourself of only one scholarship. Either of the state or the one that the university gives you that's around 15-16k. Applying for that is even quite easy. There are many in campus opportunities for the students who want to earn for their monthly expenses. You can complete projects that will give you some amount.
Campus Life
Campus life is great! Students come from all over the country(though prominently North Indians), there is huge diversity. Goonj is our annual fest but you will find many fests going round the year, from technical to cultural. Then our library is also great, AC Joshi library is the library of the whole PU which can provide you books of any genre or any field you are interested in. Sports is something PU is known for, there must be a reason if it's awarded for sports. We have great facilities for sports, tennis court, hockey ground, football ground, basketball court and the list goes on. Apart from all, like other engineering colleges, there is a range of clubs.. from photography to alumni. Osmium, the theatre one, is the oldest among all the clubs
