Overall a good college for education and good memories

The admission process is based on our higher secondary marks and the cut off mark at my time was 94%. And it varies every year and courses, recently I think it's above 96%. The application process is all online and you can find them on the official website of the college. In aided streams, all the reservation benefits are availed. This includes reservations for SC/ST, sports quota etc. Also, many scholarships from the government are available including e Grantz to inspire scholarship. The admission process is so far good for students with good marks.

The reason I choose this course was to go for PG in MSc genomics. A life science related degree was necessary and since I like zoology, I choose this course. The faculty number is different in each department and in my department, there were 9 teachers at the time of my education and the total strength of our department was nearly 120 including UG and PG students. Almost every faculty have a PhD and their teaching method was good. The exams are completed timely but still, during the covid period, the management did show unnecessary haste in conducting exams which was a major setback on their part since the class was started late due to covid and our overall curriculum was tightly packed with seminars, projects, reports and exams. The teachers were forced to complete lessons in haste for completing our exams by march. Since most of the students are already good at studies, they were able to cope up but it did affect their overall performance. It's actually a fault from management, not teachers.

There are campus placements in our college to different companies, banks etc which includes South Indian Bank and do other companies. A good number of students get placement each year in banks, Wipro etc. But these are mostly areas related to commercial, accounting related area which has no effect on people in our course since it is more of a research-oriented or education related course. My plan after my degree is to apply for MSc genomics at the Central University of Kerala through the CUCET exam. So these placement calls have zero importance for me. (FYI: I already got admission to CUK for MSc genomics).

The fees structure is the same as the government fees in aides streams. And it may vary according to the courses. But people with scholarships need not worry about it. Also, there are many scholarships available which include e grantz which I received, state merit scholarships, inspire etc.

Life at campus can be rated perfect with many programs and co curricular activities. The most famous feat is Nirvana conducted by BBA and B com CA. There are also other departments wise fest, college day, fine arts day, Christmas celebration, ethnic day, Onam celebration, sports day etc. The college also has a large library, and all classrooms are equipped with basic things a class needed. There are also many clubs, NCC( navy and army), NSS etc for students. The college also has a good reputation for sports competitions.

The boys hostel of college is called Tagore hostel. The facilities of rooms are average with enough space, ventilation, electricity with light and two 3 plug ports. The food quality is good and the menu is decided by the students of the hostel. The registration fees varies every year according to changes in establishment fee and all. And we have to may food money monthly and it also varies since it is based on self dividing system by students. There are also private hostels and PG facilities available in medical college junctions, kovoor etc for those who don't get admission in the hostel.
