Remarks
To get admission into NMIMS Mumbai, one has to first apply for the NMAT exam (it's an online adaptive exam, like GMAT), choose NMIMS in the colleges where you want to send the score. Then, the person has to separately apply to NMIMS, the form for which is available on the college website. People who have either completed their undergraduate or are in the final year of undergraduate are eligible to write the exam and sit for the process. NMIMS releases yearly cutoffs which usually are in the range of 215-225. After the exam, people are shortlisted for WAT and PI. The whole process was online and was conducted over Zoom, due to the pandemic. In the Written Aptitude Test, we are given a certain topic, and we have to write an essay of around 300-500 in 15 minutes. Being a fresher, my PI revolved around, my introduction, my interests, and subjects that I studied during my undergraduate, and revolved around Marketing, the specialisation that I intend to choose.
Course Curriculum Overview
Being a BBA student, MBA was an obvious next step in my plan. Getting to do it from a prestigious college like NMIMS Mumbai, was just like the cherry on the top. The course has various very interesting subjects like Negotiation skills, Business Communications, Sales and Channel Management etc., where faculties and guest lecturers help us shape ourselves into better future managers. The student to faculty ratio is 20:1 All of our faculties have rich managerial experience, and most of them also have a PhD in their line of specialisation, which makes them highly qualified and amazing teachers. The online classes due to COVIS are a bit difficult to concentrate in, but our teachers give their best to make the classes engaging and provide us with the best of the learnings. We have 3 trimesters in a year, which are usually 3 months each, and at the end of each of this trimester, we have our term end exams.
Internships Opportunities
The college has amazing summer placement opportunities with companies like Mars, ITC, Britannia, Pepsico, Goldman Sachs and many more come for recruitments. The average stipend was 1.2L and the highest was 3.00 L. Companies come for various profiles under Sales and Marketing, Financial Audit, Operations, Product Development etc.
Placement Experience
The college provides excellent placement opportunities, and always has 100% placements. The campus sees companies like ITC, Pepsico, Marico, Piramal etc. as loyal recruiters. The average package that was offered was 18.45L, and the highest CTC (Domestic) was 34.72L per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for MBA for my batch were Rs. 21,90,000, which is on par with the MBA colleges of this level. The main strain that is added to the cost to study would be the living costs in Mumbai. As the college is situated in Vile Parle, which is in the heart of Mumbai, living expenses are on the higher side. The college provides scholarship opportunities to economically backward students. The college provides excellent job and summer internship opportunities, where the average CTC for finals was 18.45L per annum.
Campus Life
In the online setup, it's difficult to have a campus life. But various cells like Student Council, Nepathya, Prabodhan etc. and clubs like Treblemakers (Music club), Zephyr (Dance Club), Rangpunch (Drama club), Xplore (Photography and Travel club), and Verve (Fashion Club) do an amazing job at breaking the monotony. The annual fest of the college is Organised by Student Council and Nepathya and is Euphoria. It's an extravagant cultural festival which sees participation from all over the country, and amazing performances from the best of the artists. Apart from the Euphoria, we also have a lot of other extracurricular activities throughout the year like Parichay, Open Mics, Acoustic Nights and many more.
Interview Experience
In the admission process, there were Written Aptitude tests and Personal Interviews. In WAT, we were given a topic and had to write a 400-500 word essay on that, in 15 mins. This was conducted on a call on Zoom, and we were given a timed Google Form link to write our answers in. Before the round of WAT and PI, we also had to submit a short written introduction and CVs. During the interview, there were 3 panel members, and they already had my written introduction and CV, and they started asking questions based on that. To prepare for this round, it is good to know what you studied in your undergraduation, the work you did on the job, and your interests. I was asked questions relatedd to marketing and advertising, as those were the topics that I had written I was interested in. It was a conversational interview, and the panelists were very polite.
