NMIMS stands resilient amidst pandemic

Gave NMAT 3 times. My best score was 252 and I was shortlisted for WAT/PI for NMIMS Mumbai. First-round was a written ability test and the topic which I got was 'Future of online education in India'. This was followed by an interview round which was taken by 3 female faculties. Questions revolved around my interest and hobbies, application of my undergraduate studies in a business context, and general awareness.

The course curriculum is not that good in my opinion. The course is highly theoretical and lacks the practicality needed in today's corporate environment. Important courses of HRM and Operations & Supply Chain Management are introduced in the third trimester which I think is too late. A lot of half-credit courses also seem irrelevant and do not add much value in developing business acumen. Faculty to student ratio is 1:60 which does not seem to be much of a problem, especially in online classes. Faculty for Operations & Supply chain management, Data Analytics, and Human Resource Management are very good and the course content is also very relevant. However, for strategy, marketing, and finance, the quality of content and faculty are sub-par. College is very particular about its deliverables and scheduling. Classes are not delayed and exams happen as per schedule.

Cannot disclose as per NDA signed with the placement committee. However, the companies that come to the college are both Tier 1 and startups as well. Packages start from 15 LPA and go until 30 LPA. Profiles are also good.

The summer internship process starts from the 2nd trimester onwards and most students get an internship in the month of September and October. However, the placement committee remains committed till the end to bring in committees so that also students are able to get a summer internship. A lot of most sort after companies visit our campus and which have a presence of strong alumni network from the campus that shows the credibility of our institute to be one of the best in the country. For the finals, college was able to complete the placement season in record 8 days. The highest internship stipend as per my knowledge was 1.5 lakhs per month and a wide range of profiles from different streams were open to all. The best part is that college does not restrict you to get a job in the intended specialization you want and hence offers a lot of flexibility with regards to that.

Fees are the major pain point for students while making the decision to join the institute. Hefty fees of 21 lakhs for 2 years without a hostel and that too in a city like Mumbai makes the institute an expensive proposition compared to other B-Schools in the country. College does not offer any financial assistance or scholarships, however, banks are willing to extend education loans at lower interest rates to students who get admission to this institute. I am highly satisfied with the internship opportunity I have received from the campus.

We haven't had the experience of Offline classes as of now. However, the experience of online classes in some subjects are really good. Course contents have been modified to meet the needs of the online environment. However, the events being conducted are really uninteresting. College should have provided better e-library facilities to the students along with access to the latest tools and software that are demanded by industries. I am not really engaged with the club activities and fests happening in college because I find it tiring to attend on the online platform. However, the peers I have are some of the brightest, a sharp and sincere bunch of people I have come across. Get to learn a lot from the diversity in college.

Due to the covid pandemic, we did not have any GD during admission. However, we did have a WAT initially where our topic was on the future of digital education in India. This was followed by an interview by three panelists testing my general awareness, undergraduate knowledge and interests, and hobbies.
