Honest Review of SGSITS

If you're living in MP and you're preparing for IIT-JEE, then you must be familiar with the name SGSITS. It is one of the best government colleges of Madhya Pradesh, after IIT, Indore and MANIT, Bhopal. Due to it's reputation, the companies prefer to come to our college and take a good number of students with them. To get admission in the college, one will have to take JEE Mains test and score good in that. Then one should apply in the counseling conducted by MP Online to get the seat in the college based on merit. Also, at the end, for the remaining seats after the MP Online counseling, CLC, i.e. college level counseling is conducted. College life here would be interesting, but if you're more into infrastructure, then this may not be a good choice. Infrastructure is the weak point of the college but it gets compensated as the fees is also not at all high.

I chose Industrial and Production Engineering because I was always interested in this field, but if my score would have been better, I'd have chosen Mechanical. But IPE is also good. There are approximately 60-70 students in a class, which is not that bad ratio. Faculties here are quite good. They are well qualified. And they very well know how to teach, and how to make students learn any topic. Now coming to the exams, since its an autonomous college, the exams conducted timely here. But unlike another private colleges, you'll have to study here. Question banks alone won't help you pass. It's not tough to pass, but to score good, i.e. above 8.5 or 9 CGPA, is definitely not that easy. Internal marking also plays a vital role in deciding one's CGPA.

After the completion of 3rd year, i.e. after 7th sem. the companies start apporaching for the campus placement drive. Many of the giants also approach the college for placement, which offer upto 30 LPA. There are various companies like Deloitte, Asian Paints, Eicher, Quantile, Quantiphi, etc. which come with the average package of upto Rs. 7.5 LPA. Placement wholly depends on the performance of the student during the selection process and college academics, but still a fair number of students get a respectable job offer. Several day-one companies also approach with the average package of upto Rs. 3.5 LPA. Many of the students opt for higher studies too to secure their future.

Per semester fees of the IPE is around Rs. 35000, making it a total of Rs. 280000 for complete course. I didn't get any scholarship, but if you're from SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/EWS, you can avail the scholarship.

The social life at college is okay. There are various cultural and technical clubs, many of them run mainly by students, which give a boost to social life at college. Annual fest of SGSITS is Aayaam. The fest is fun but it only involves mainly the students of SGSITS only since the accomodation for other college students is relatively very less. Now talking about library, there are ample of books available in college library of almost every subject mentioned in curriculum. Classrooms of the new buildings are good, they have smart classrooms, mics, and other such modern amenities, but the classrooms of older buildings are just like a normal classroom. If we talk about sports in SGSITS, there are various sports facilities available in the college Sports Complex, like badminton court, table tennis, basketball court, volleyball court, football and cricket ground where various tournaments keep happening.
