MBA at GU - A real experience

I applied at Gurugram University as it intakes students on the basis of merit. Due to some medical problems I could not give my CAT exam and GU was the best choice I got according to that. It is a relatively new university and is certified by UGC. The application form is to be filled online with some requisite fee. My admission was smooth as i had 74% marks in my graduation.

The university is relatively new still it has various programs at UG, PG and PhD levels. In MBA you get to choose between Marketing, HR, Finance, IB and RM and so on. The first year comprises of core subjects while during the second year you get to choose your major/minor. The professors are very helpful and case study method is used for teaching. We have three semesters annually with various projects, assignments and quizzes.

We get a summer internship program after the completion of our first semester exams. It generally goes for 8 weeks. Many companies visit our campus for internships like HDFC Bank, Flipkart and HBL. The internship can be both paid and unpaid. The average stipend generally is about 5000 rupees. I got a very good learning experience during my internship.

The recruitment drive starts after the completion of the first year for MBA students. The average placements are around 70% which is good. Various companies come for placements like Sun Pharma, Amazon, HCL, Accenture, Capgemini and Glenmark. The highest package is around 7 LPA while the average CTC offered is 2.5 LPA. The university is growing rapidly and the placements are getting better every year.

GU is a state government university thus the fees are very low compared to other B schools. The fee annually is 40000 rupees which sums up to 80000 rupees in two years. Scholarships are provided to the meritorious and the financially weak. Those who top the program get scholarships and those who have a family income below 2 LPA get scholarships.

The university grants all the necessary facilities to the students. The classrooms have modern innovations and our library is top class. You can get all the required books in the library. Annual fest and tech fest are organized. The university celebrates all the traditional festivals like Diwali, Dusshera etc. Various Inter departmental sports are organized. Apart from that dance competition, poetry, recitation and quizzes are organized.

We get hostel accommodations according to our need. The hostels are new so they are well furnished. We get chair, table, bed and other necessary items. Various amenities like Wi-Fi, gym, common room, basketball court and volleyball court is there in the hostel. The mess food is also good and we get Sunday Special menu.

There is no GD and PI while taking admission at GU. The admission is done solely on merit basis and you need to come to the University for Document Verification. Documents like 12th mark sheet, graduation degree and mark sheet are various other documents are required at the time of admission.
