Remarks
You must have passed the higher secondary (10+2) exam from any recognized board. Your marks in HS must be over 45%. Then you can apply here. The application form is around Rs 300. After you apply for the subject you want to take honors they will create a merit list based on the marks you have got in your hs board exam. They will take the best of four subject marks and make a percentage of that. No admission test was taken. Instead, they take admission based on this merit list. One more important point is that you must have a philosophy in class 12 and you must have over 70-80% marks in philosophy so that you can get a seat here. Yes, reservation benefits are available. You can get a chance at lower percentage marks if you belong to SC/ST or OBC. You can find the application form on the college website right after the HS result. And every process is online except document verification
Course Curriculum Overview
I have taken Sanskrit, philosophy & Geography subjects in 11& 12. Among them, I have got the highest marks in Philosophy and it is a very interesting subject to me. So I thought taking philosophy honors will be a good idea. We have around 50 students and 5 faculties. All of our faculty in our college are female. And our student-faculty ratio became 1 faculty per 10 students which is not bad at all. All of our ma'am are good. They are highly educated. Some of them have done M.Phil & P.hD. We have a total of six semesters and 12 internal class tests in 3 years. Exams were not difficult to pass.
Fees and Financial Aid
As this college is sponsored by our WB government cost of studying is very low and affordable for everyone. Our admission fee was around 2000 and we did not have to pay for every semester. Instead, we had to pay for a year like after 2 nd semester competition we had to pay for the 3rd & 4th semester combined which is around Rs 1500. Again for the 5th & 6th semesters, the fee is around Rs 1400. So the total cost in 3 years is below Rs 5000. Now you need to take private tuition that cost is not included. You can get scholarships from the government if you had 75% marks in HS and had over 60% marks in every year of graduation. The scholarships amount is 15000 per year for art students like us. Female students can apply for Jayashree and male students can apply for OASIS & SVMCM.
Campus Life
Our college did not organize many cultural programs. There was some department like the Bengali department where some cultural programs were organized. But we have not seen any big occasion where students from all the departments can participate. We have celebrated Saraswati Puja & teacher's day in our college. Except for these two programs, there were no extracurricular activities in our college. Our classrooms are poor in terms of decoration. Our hall room where some seminars were organized is very small. We did not have any campus. Our library room is very good. We had all kinds of different books available in the library. And we had a library study room which is air-conditioned and very silent. I have not seen any sports activity in my college and we have a student union group. They are helpful for newcomers in college.
