Remarks
IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest institutes in India. The college is quite popular for its placement record and education standards. I wanted to be part of IIEST Shibpur because I was looking for an institution with a great placement record so IIEST Shibpur was the best option for me and I am from Kolkata so I was aware of its popularity. The candidate must clear its CAT exam and must have secured a minimum of 50% in its degree program followed by a PI round.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of the college is updated according to the latest industrial scenario and is of the highest industrial standards. The curriculum is divided into 4 semester and first two-semester focuses on the theory and skill development of student and the last 2 semester focuses on practical knowledge and industrial visit are conducted to provide students with insight into the corporate world.
Internships Opportunities
You can get an internship opportunity after completing the first year. But it is not necessary that you will be provided with the stipend only a few companies provide you stipend. Companies like Microsoft, Capgemini, TCS, Amazon visit the campus for the internship programs. If you are lucky enough you be able to receive the pre-placement offer.
Placement Experience
The placement record of the college is 100%. the college placement committee is expert and well experienced and knows how to attract MNC. The placement committee will guide you and help you out during the placement. My only reason to join IIEST Shibpur was its placement record. The highest package for our batch went up to 26 LPA and the average package was 17 LPA only a few colleges in India provide such a great package. Companies like Microsoft, HSBC Technologies, Maruti, Infosys, Oracle are the companies that visit the campus during the placement drive.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college also provides scholarships on a merit basis. Scholarship to SC/ST/Pd students is also available. Education loan is also available through in campus PSU banks UCO Bank, UBI Bank and SBI Bank. Scholarships details are available on the official website of the college.
Campus Life
The campus life of the college is good. Regular industrial visits, Business quiz competitions, guest lectures, keep students busy throughout the year. The computer labs are modern with high-speed internet connectivity. There is a synthetic basketball court and swimming pool on the campus. The well-maintained gymnasium and indoor game hall is gathering point for many students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are well maintained and very well cleaned. The rooms are available on sharing basis with 2 students in one room. The rooms are equipped with beds, almirah and study tables for students. the food of the mess is tasty and healthy. The hostel has all the basic facilities and high-speed internet connectivity is also available.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are highly qualified and have industrial experience. Many guest faculty also visit the college for guest lectures. The faculty of the college motivates students to take part in the extra-curriculum activity as they believe that students overall personality development is important.
