"My College Journey in AIT"

Ambedkar institute of Technology is a government college affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and that’s why the fees is comparatively lower. Also, the students would have to face the formal Dress code in this college. This college is ranked at third position among all the GGSIPU colleges for BCA. The admission process is quite simple. The eligibility criteria to get into this course and college is that you must have passed 12th class with a minimum percentage of around 60% and maths is also compulsory for this course but you should still check the college brochure before applying for the entrance exam. The entrance exam is conducted every year named IPU CET by the IP university. You have to apply for the entrance by filling out the application form through the official website of IPU which is www.ipu.com and they also charge you the application fee which would be around Rs.1200. Students can also get reservation benefits here and Delhi people will be given preference in most cases.

As I had always been interested in computer science and wanted to pursue my career in the IT field that’s one of the reasons, I chose this course despite the fact that I had commerce in 10+2. When it comes to the faculty members, they are very kind and supportive towards the students. The faculty members are highly qualified with a strong educational background in the field of computer science. The college infrastructure is quite okay in terms of laboratories, classrooms, seminar halls, etc. There are 6 semesters for this course and the level of semester exams was moderate-difficult to pass. The number of class test are also organized during the semesters.

A few companies also provide internships to students. The profiles are offered to students according to their skill-set. If a student is not eligible for an internship, they provide training programmes that assist students to develop their personalities and skills even further.

The college also provides average placements opportunities in the final year of our college. The placements session starts from the 5th semester. The college has its own placement cell that conducts interviews with firms like as Wipro, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, and Concentrics and provides students with the possibility to get placed in these well-known companies. As far as our course is concerned, the companies offer various profiles in the field of computer science according to the skill set of the individuals. The proportion of students who are placed is extremely low. The average package available is 2L per month. After finishing the course, students might also pursue higher education in the same field to get better opportunities in IT field.

As I also mentioned above, the college fees are quite low in contrast to other IP universities. The college does not offer scholarships, but you can apply for the scholarships that are being provided by the central and state governments. The university also has a financial support programme for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. College students are hired by the IT companies such as Tech Mahindra, Deloitte, and Wipro Technologies.

The campus life in AIT is quite good and the environment at the campus is also fine. Also, there is no raging in our college and college have strict rules and regulations against it. However, as we have a formal dress code in our college which is black pants with white shirt because of that we miss out on that part of college life, wearing different outfits daily. Some extra-curricular activities are also organized by the college and students are welcome to take part in those activities and competitions. Every year around October, our students compete and represent our college in the IP University's sports meet. Also, we do have access to a court on campus for practice. The college fest is organized around January-February every year. The library has all of the books that students might require during the course of their college. However, if there are any books that are not available in the library, you can notify the librarian and they will make them available to you within a few days.
