Remarks
IIIT Dharwad is an institute of National Importance. The candidate has to clear its JEE exam and should have secured 60% marks in 10+2 followed by JOSAA/CSAB counseling. I was allotted the IIIT Dharwad after my JOSAA counselling as my JEE rank was between 39K to 40K. After allotting the college I did some research and I found that the college chairperson is Smt. Sudha Murthy. After visiting the campus I realised that the staff is quite professional and knowledgeable. The college is moving in the right direction under a great leader.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of IIIT Dharwad is highly dynamic and evolving to ensure that the curriculum that is taught to the student is current and relevant. The biggest plus of the curriculum is that it has moved away from the traditional and outdated curriculum and has introduced an IT-focused curriculum just from the first semester like there is no chemistry included in the curriculum with elective subjects offered in areas of data science, machine learning, IoT, cloud computing and even the Blockchain to name a few. The college provides ample opportunities for the students to learn and develop their skills.
Internships Opportunities
The college also provides ample opportunities for internship programs. The college placement cell is ware of the curriculum of the programs and so the companies from various industries visit the campus for the internship program. Probably the only drawback could be that the companies do not provide much stipend with the highest stipend for our batch was around Rs. 18000/-.
Placement Experience
We were part of the second batch of the institute and I can say that the college provides you with a good opportunity in terms of placement. The placement committee of the college takes suggestions from students as probably maybe it's a new institute that why they are focusing more on placement. The placement cell members are professional and they are aware of the importance of placement and they properly guide and help students throughout the placement drive. Companies like Deloitte, Capgemini, Infosys, Wipro, Samsung, TCS, Adobe, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Activity, TATA, White Panda, Sigmoid, Mercedes, etc are the companies that visit the campus during our placement drive. you can see the number of companies that have visited our campus. The highest placement package went up to 21 LPA and the average package was around 7.50 LPA. I also received a package of 9 LPA from Samsung.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides scholarships for merit students. There is also a scholarship program for SC/ST/PD students. Education loan facility is also available and the college admission staff provides full support in availing the loan. If you are interested in any scholarship program you can visit the college official website to know more details about the scholarship.
Campus Life
The campus life of the college is good. The college provides you with an ample studying environment. the seniors and the administrative staff is quite supportive and friendly. During our tenure, the college was operating from the temporary campus located at IT Park in Hubli. IIIT Dharwad is moving to its brand new campus in 202o around the month of October and November.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are very spacious and rooms are available on sharing basis. The room is shared by 3-4 students. WiFi facility is also available in the hostel. The rooms are cleaned 4 times a week. the rooms are equipped with a bed, almirahs, and a study table for students. The food of the mess is good and healthy. The new hostel is designed by Infosys as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. The hostel is equipped with all basic facilities according to the comfort of the students.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are highly qualified with Ph.D. holders and Postdocs from the reputed institute of India and foreign and have the right blend in the field of research and teaching. Most of the faculty of the college also have industrial exposure which is very beneficial for students.
