IIT Mandi Review By Prashant Tomar

IIT Mandi was one of the best preferences for me as I am from Himachal and there was a certain positive vibe that attracted me towards it after visiting the campus. The college is the new entrance in the IIT family. The placement record according to the new IIT is very good and the faculty of the college is quite popular for its teaching methods. As per my preference, IIT Mandi was providing a great educational program for M.Tech in Power Electronics and Drives. To be part of the college candidate has to pass the GATE exam and must secure at least 60% marks in the B.Tech program. After clearing the GATE candidate has to appear for COAP counseling.

The curriculum is according to the standards of IIT means the curriculum follows all the national and international industrial norms and standards. Due to my academic records and my active participation in college extracurricular activist I got an opportunity to be part of the college research program. The faculty guides us during our research and it is a good opportunity for us to learn more interesting things. As the curriculum is a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge.

The college placement committee helps during the internship program and they also provide us with the list of the companies that take part in the internship program. The student can also opt for an off-campus internship. the stipends range from Rs. 12000/- to Rs. 85000/- according to the tenure of the internship program.

The college has a 100% placement record. The college placement committee is very hardworking and they are aware of the interest of students participating in the placement drive. So the helps us a lot and guides us during the college placement rounds. Around 65+ companies visited the campus during the placement drive of the college The highest placement package for our batch was around 25 LPA and the average package was around 12 LPA. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Samsung Bangalore, Adobe, Walmart, Paytm, Amazon, Samsung Bangalore, etc visited the campus for a placement drive.

The college also provides scholarships to merit students. The college provides scholarships to SC/ST/PWD students under the various scholarship programs. An education loan facility is also available. The education loan process is completely done through the admission department. The college is spread over 275 acres of land. The college infrastructure is well maintained. The college is situated in the middle of the hills which gives a beautiful view. The cold breezes around the campus freshen up the mood. The college organizes various events in the colleges. The college also celebrates the festival of India on the campus. The classrooms of the college are big and spacious. The library is equipped with lots of books and with international journals.

The hostel rooms are big enough to accommodate 3-2 students and the hostel rooms are also available in double, triple, and single sharing. The rooms are cleaned on regular basis. The scenic view around the hostel campus totally uplifts the mood. The mess food is good and healthy. The hostel also provides us with an internet facility. the hostel also has a study room which is open 24 hours for us to study. The laundry facility is also available. The hostel is equipped with all kinds of modern facilities for students.

The faculty of the college is very professional. Most of the faculty f the college are young so we can easily interact with them. The faculty also have industrial exposure and good research experience which is really beneficial to us. The faculty also guides us during the campus placement drives.
