Remarks

It has it's ups and downs, but it's easy to ignore the negative points and just enjoy the positives if you really want to. There is a lot of politics on campus that can be quite frustrating sometimes, but I think that's the case everywhere.

Entrance Preview

I didn't do any of the above entrance tests, there was an entrance test and interview at the college. I chose the college because I liked the environment, the campus and the course seemed interesting.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

You have to do three foundation courses and one language alongside the three majors, English, Journalism and Psychology. You have to give a lot of time and effort to each major. Journalism requires a lot of outside-the-classroom work. All three need individual efforts.

Internships Opportunities

We had to find our own internships, only a few were offered to us by companies, but we didn't take them. We were taught to do all these things on our own, and most of us did our internships for the experience and certificate rather than for a stipend.

Placement Experience

3

The course is still new, and we are the first batch. Most of the people from my batch are planning to go in for future studies so they haven't applied for placement services, although the college does have an active and running placement cell that people from other courses have told us is giving good opportunities.

College Events

4

At all times there is something or the other happening on campus. whether it's fests or conferences or performances, there's always something. There are many associations to join, sports to play, events to help organize. There is no lack of extra curriculars.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It works out to less than 40000 per year, and compared to some of the other colleges in the city, that is quite reasonable. There will be small expenses here and there, but nothing too drastic.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not taken a scholarship, so I am not aware. I think they do have options, but I am not sure. I think there is an application procedure, so one should just get in touch with the college office to find out.

Campus Life

3

For me, campus life is great. There is an abundance of extracurriculars. There are many associations to join, certificate courses to do, events to attend or help organise. There are also people from all over the county so you get exposed to different cultures. We have talks and seminars all the time on all kinds of interesting topics. Of course there will also always be the talks that we go to and fall asleep, but that's the case everywhere.

Hostel Facilities

3

I have not stayed in the hostel, but we do have a hostel for boys as well as for girls. There are also a lot of PGs nearby. I stay with my parents, but my friends pay about 4-5 thousand for PGs in a month, some stay in apartments and share with friends and pay a few thousand more.

Alumni/Alumna

I always see ex-students coming back to campus, meeting the teachers, spending the day with their juniors, just being on campus, and I myself expect to come back many times, because it's my second home now. Alumni meets are organised.

Exam Structure

In a semester, we have one set of mid semester tests and one set of end semester exams. Practical exams happen before the end semester examinations. It's usually organised well and isn't too hectic.

Faculty

4

The faculty is what has made the course so good. It is very intensive, but at the end of it, you leave with a lot of experience. The Psychology department is still new, so it's not quite as big as the English department, but it still has people that are easy to approach.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
