Remarks
The admission was based on the written English proficiency test and scholarship was granted to those who scored 80% and above in their board exams. The admission process was simple and easy, not much competition was there. The application form cost around 200 bucks and was available on their website. There was proper orientation conducted, a campus tour was given and the course curriculum was thoroughly explained by the authorities. There was a 40000 Rs security deposit and 60000 admission charges once the candidate is selected to avail and fix the seat.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is perfectly designed and is more focused on field-based learning rather than theoretical knowledge. The faculty is very supportive and easy to reach. Most of the faculty are industry experienced and Ph.D. holders in the field. There are 75 students in a class for one professor in theory classes ad 25 students for one factually in practical classes. Apart from this mentor is also provided for the students to rack their performance and help students to excel. Exams are held every month, assignments are given per week for internal assessment and three mid-sem exams are conducted. Exams are easy to qualify if you have studied and focused in class. 75% attendance is mandatory to sit in the exam.
Internships Opportunities
Concerning the course, journalism and PR roles are offered in the internship, though, Journalism roles are much higher than PR. The internship generally requires the students to write articles, curate copies, or be in client meetings. Generally, internships were unpaid except the one with TOI. There was no major interview process for the internship, selection was resume-based.
Placement Experience
There is college placement, students are trained for the interviews and GD/PI's by the placement cell but the only problem is the package offered is very less as compared to other colleges for the same company. The selection percentage is average. I am planning to work after the degree and might plan to do an MBA after two years.
Fees and Financial Aid
If we look at the fees, it is quite expensive but there are no hidden charges otherwise and the cost is justified. Internships are mostly unpaid and jobs are offered with less if we compare to other institutes for the same company. The amount invested is very high to what we are offered in placements. I interned with News Mobile but it was unpaid. Though, I got college placement but not on a very good package.
Campus Life
Campus life is full of fun and learning. The fest is held frequently such as Blue Moon, Euphoria, Dj nights, Movie Nights, Open mic. there are various clubs which keep the college enthusiastic and fun run by student bodies. Students are kept engaged in many extra-curricular activities without any interference with academic life. There is a proper balance of recreation and Education.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are spacious but the washroom is common which is shared all, which can be a problem as far as cleanliness is concerned. though, there is no rush but a cleanliness issue. There is only one water cooler on the floor which again is sometimes a matter of concern as far as quality is concerned. rooms are cleaned twice a week. Mess food is the best part of the hostel, it's not at all like hostel food, properly cooked, good taste and good variety. They provide four-time meals and the menu is changed regularly. There were triple occupancy and double occupancy rooms but due to covid, they have to double occupancy.
Interview Experience
There was an English proficiency test for the selection process. Afterward, the selected students were mailed and called for orientation. It was a simple test that doesn't require any practice.
