Koushik Saha's Review On Rishi Bankim Chandra Evening College, North 24 Parganas

This college is best for them who want to complete regular graduation course as distance learning is not valued by most of the companies. But do not expect placement opportunities from here.

I have not taken any entrance examination. I got admission as per my marks in higher secondary examination. I choose this college because at that time this college was near to my home and the fees was less compared to any other nearby colleges.

Course curriculum was as per Calcutta university standard, which is not so easy to score. They followed the syllabus prescribed by the University. However the teachers were good and as I was a science student, the college helped us a lot with practicals.

In this college I never got a chance for internship. No company came in our college during that time and we never got any placement also.

There was not placement or job opportunities when I passed out from college. No company came for campus interview. During that time we used to go to college just to get the degree and not jobs. It was different then.

I can only remember the cultural events celebrated during our college days. Events like Freshers, used to happen every year other than that we used to celebrate Independence day, Republic day and Teachers day in our college.

Fee was feasible, as I said before it was the cheapest college around my area. I still remember I used to pay 1200 per year as college fees. And there was no extra fee for library or anything else.

I am not aware of any scholarship or loan facility offered by my college. I've never heard from anyone also that anyone got scholarship from my college. May be there was and I am not aware of that.

There is no campus actually in true sense. This college has one big building and a small open area inside. And this college does not have any cricket, football, basket ball, or any indoor games. However Lab is ok for the price they take from the students.

There was no hostel facility in this college, and no mess also. Canteen food was worst even canteen was the most suffocating place in my entire college. I never went in that area.

I am not aware of alumni network or senior students. I guess Facebook is the place where all meet and talk. I do not have any touch with the college or the my college friends after I left. So no, nothing as such.

Exam used to happen once in a year. However me and most of our friends were focused about the university exams and not about the college exams. At that time, we had both written and practical exams.

Not all of them was good, I still remember about S.K.S or S.B. they are the best professors of Physical chemistry and A.S. in Inorganic chemistry. I enjoyed their classes a lot. However due to student unions most of the time the classes gets affected.
