Remarks
The course is eligible for students who have completed their 10+2. The application form, application fees and application dates everything is available in the college website itself. The admission process was smooth and there was no hindrance. An improvement that I would want to see in the admission process is that an entrance exam should be conducted for the course so that even the students who have scored less than the cut-off have a chance of getting admission.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I wanted to pursue Chartered Accounting as my career and moreover the college is most famous for it's B.Com course in comparison to other commerce-related courses. The faculty:student ratio is 1:80 which is fair enough. All the faculties are well qualified with good knowledge in their respective subjects. The review teaching method better than average. Term exams were conducted according to the schedule with gaps of 2-3 days before each exam and it wasn't difficult to pass if one followed the college classes regularly.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of internship opportunities are available with the college. The Placement Cell of the college collaborated with another cell, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, to host Initium: The Internship Expo. The event was a big success as over 48 companies came onboard and close to 1000 registrations were received from the students. With more than 100 students being offered internship roles with monthly stipend ranging Rs. 20,000, the event was a grand success. Many projects are conducted during the course of internship which helps in learning a lot of things and gaining experience.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Name of companies visited - Deloitte, PWC, L&T, J.P. Morgan, Google, Wipro, ICICI Bank, Usha, UBS, Cognizant, Ernst and Young, Axis Bank, Godrej, Tata Capital, Infosys, Zomato, HDFC Bank, D.E. Shaw, KPMG, Swiss Re, Aditya Birla Capital, Viacom, MTS, Asian Paints, Decathlon and many more. On an average, each company made an offer of 4 vacancies for the students of the B.Com course. Highest package was 21 lakhs which was offered by D.E. Shaw and average package was 6 lakhs. Over 30% students got placed. My plan is to pursue Chartered Accountancy after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure is good and is quite affordable in comparison to other private colleges in the country. The cost of study per quarter is 11,000-12,000.The college also provides scholarship, financial assistance and campus jobs. Names of some scholarships are - Late Rukmini Devi Goenka Scholarship, Infar (India) Scholarship, Smt. Panna Devi Kanoi Scholarship, Smt. Kamala Devi Budhia Scholarship, A.K. Agarwal Scholarship. I had not applied for college placements as I had to pursue CA. Some of my friends got placed in companies like Deloitte, PWX with stipend of 5-6 lakhs.
Campus Life
Xavotsav is the name of the annual fest which is held in the month of January and various other business fests like Insignia, Innovision, and many more are organised by various societies and clubs. The availability of books and journals in the library is quite commendable and moreover the library has a great infrastructure. Classrooms have windows and are well-ventilated, ceiling fans, air conditioners, projectors, blackboard, desks and benches. A lot of sports events like basketball, cricket, table tennis and football are organised along with the annual sports day. Apart from that a lot of extra curricular activities and events like business events, corporate prodigy, management events, finance events, etc. are conducted by various clubs and societies. Social groups and clubs are - Xaviers Commerce Society, Xaviers Management Society, Enactus, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Xaviers Finance Community, Xaviers TedX Cell and many more.
