Remarks
The admission process is the same as for other NITs, that is through jee mains, which is conducted by NTA, the details of which an application form can be found on their official site. The exam is held every year in two sessions, each session involving 6 or 8 exams in morning and evening shifts depending upon the number of applicants.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the electrical branch cause I want to be in an executive or managerial post in an electrical based core company. Faculties here are highly qualified like they hold a PhD and /or an MTech degree from reputed IITs and other deemed universities. Currently, I am in the 4th sem, and by far classes have been held completely in online mode. In the first year, we were taught subjects common to all branches like BEE, engineering drawing, BME, communication skills, maths, etc. and I can say they were taught good, as they are important for all round development of an engineer. From the third sem, we were given a taste of our departmental studies by introducing core electrical subjects like analogue, power systems, etc. We are provided with an academic calendar at the start of each semester that enlists all exam dates, project submission dates and all. And exams are conducted timely as scheduled according to the academic calendar. And exams are manageable, more on the moderate side.
Internships Opportunities
Summer internships, industrial visits or training programs are provided by the institute in the 4th and 6th sem (as per my information) in both online and offline mode. As I have just entered into 4th semester, I have come to know about it recently and looking forward to adding more information about the same once I get updated regarding the same.
Placement Experience
Placements for the electrical department are decent, you can find more annual package on corporate or what you can say IT sector side, than on the core side. I am interested in the core sector, so I am much more into competitive examinations like gate than placements coz I want a PSU job. U can get the placement stats from the college website, I may not be correct about it, but u can take it between 5-6lpa(or more) for core and 6/7-9 LPA(or more) for the non core.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is more or less comparable to other nit's. Tuition fee is 62500/- per semester for general category students+some other fees(like exam fees, library fees, etc), which makes it Rs 138000/- on a yearly basis. (Tuition fee is sane in all nit's). There is no tuition fee for students belonging to SC/ST category. Some fee relaxation is also there for obc/ews/general category students depending on some income criteria. I am a bit annoyed at the fee structure coz I don't find it very affordable and convenient to pay about 69k at a time.
Campus Life
Fests are regularly organized in the institute. Eklectika is one of them. I don't know much about fests and other co-curricular activities happening around in the college because till now we gave been attending college in online mode only. Well, offline classes are starting from 21st March, I hope I'd get to know more about fests and all. As I haven't been to college premises yet so I can't say about amenities in classroom and library facilities but what I heard from seniors is that the facilities are at par with other institutes of national importance. Talking about sports, students have recently organized a football league and are about to organize the same for cricket. And from what I have heard from our seniors, sports facilities are nice here in our institute. Clubs like i-cell, robotics club, raaga for music and arts, etc are run by our seniors and recruit students on a timely basis.I haven't enrolled on any club yet, coz i was waiting for college reopening. Looking forward to a great year.
