Remarks
There is no entrance exam for getting into GGDSD college. Just fill out the combined admission form of Punjab University and if you have enough marks in the 12th standard you will get admitted. I have seen people with very low marks getting admitted into the college. If you have scored too less even then you can get admitted. If you are a ut student then you are given priority in admission.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for this course by reading its pamphlet and brochure with the highest package mentioned 40lakhs pa. Talking about the faculty some teachers really know what they are teaching and completely deserve an award but mostly the faculty just teach whatever is given in the book that too not properly. Sometimes even the syllabus of the semester was not completed. Last semester I got a faculty to teach us discrete mathematics but he didn't know what was the subject at all. Exams are exams you do on your own so if you have studied and solved previous year's question papers then you will pass with flying colours.
Placement Experience
From the 5th semester onwards companies come for recruitment. In this year till now companies like Deshaw, Byjus, HIM technology, Gillard technology, Delloite, ICICI Bank have come out of which DEShaw is off-campus placement offering the best package of 2300000 rupees. Delloite and ICICI Bank offered a package of 600000rupees each. Byjus offered 5lakh. Rest other companies offered 2-3 lakh pa.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are about to rise due to college policy. The college faculty was sitting on a demonstration for a pay hike and against separation from Panjab University. Speaking honestly if you want to pursue BCA go to another college like PGGC or directly into Panjab University which has less fee. And has better placement opportunities with more credibility. Talking about jobs for BCA companies like ICICI Bank, D.E.Shaw, Delloite, Gillard technology, byjus, Him technology have come this year till now.
Campus Life
Well, the college provides many clubs like Enactus, Rotaract club, NSS, NCC(which according to me is the best thing you can be a part of), literature club etc. There is space for sports in this college except for 2-3 cricket nets, a volleyball court in a bad state, a basketball court. The library is just great. There are college fests like Phoenix for codding.
