Sahil Poddar's Review On Indira Gandhi National Open University - [IGNOU], New Delhi

I didn't gave any entrance exam as it is an open university. I chose this university because of financial problem. I thought to do BCA from DU but DU doesn't provide BCA course for students having 60-70% in 12th. 1 or 2 colleges in DU provides BCA in which i am not eligible. And as i had shortage of funds so i chose IGNOU. and i have very interest in computer and technology so i chose to do BCA from IGNOU.

The course BCA is very interesting. But the faculties doesn't know much about it. They read books before an hour of teaching the subjects to the students. And they delay the doubts of the students in my study centre.

Nobody came at college for placement. But i got a message long time ago that a company is going to visit at Ignou. And that was for BPO process so i didn't joined that interview as i am from technical field.

There is no placement and job opportunity if you are pursuing any course from IGNOU as it is an open university. In regular colleges, many company come for placement and takes interview of the students. But in IGNOU it don't provide such kind of opportunity.

There are no events celebrated like party and birthday celebration. They celebrate only like Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan, National Education Day,Vallabhai patel Jayanti through quiz,drawing competetion,group discussion.

It is feasible. In BCA, fee goes semester wise. For every 6 month IGNOU charges 5000/- per semester and it provides semester wise exams also. Means we pay 30000/- for whole BCA course from IGNOU.

IGNOU don't provides any scholarships as if now. I tried to get the scholarship by filling a small form. But later on i got to know that scholarship doesn't provided for students of IGNOU college. So i didn't processed it further.

Campus life is so good for me. I found some friends over there. They are so good. They help us in understanding a concept if we are not getting it. Faculty are not that much good in teaching as they should be. But friends in my college is very cooperative and helpful. College staff like peon and helper are much and much better than our faculty in my study centre. Lab classes are good as compared to theory classes. As i told you already it doesn't provide much extracurricular activities. Some times IGNOU provides workshops also.

There is no hostel facilities provided by IGNOU. And in my study centre, there is no mess also. We eat something if we want by going outside of campus or by the lunch which is provided from our home. Most of the time i used to eat from outside of faculty by paying the charges for the food.

Seniors are good if someone really tries to talk to them related to study. They are very helpful too. I had some interaction with some of my seniors and they are so nice and behave very politely.

Exam structures are different from other colleges. Somewhere they give 2-3 days leave between exams and sometimes they give continuous exam datesheet like 3-4 exams in a row. And datesheet for practical declared on next month after theory exams. And some times its very hectic like continuously in a row or some times it gives us some leaves also.
