NMAMIT, BE in Electrical and Electronics

Remarks

The college management doesn't focus on placements and students hardly get placed in good companies. They focus on academic life only, and not on placements. I didn't find this college really encouraging and it hardly supported the students in off campus placements or in-campus placements. This college is meant for only CS, IS students and not for any other branch because all other branches are suppressed.

Entrance Preview

I answered CET exam and secured 4020 rank. I chose EE because I didn't get EC since my rank was not good. Also, I didn't choose IT because I wasn't interested in coding. There was no interview process. I directly got a seat in EE at NMAMIT through the CET counselling.

Course Curriculum Overview

0.5

The course curriculum had multiple subjects of electrical and electronics. It was slightly tough, since all subjects were extremely new to me. The electives included Essentials in IT, Electronic Instrumentation, HVDC power systems, VLSI etc. Essentials in IT included java, sql, c++ and other programming languages that non-IT students are generally not aware of.Electronic instrumentation was about all electronic instruments and devices. HVDC systems was about high voltage DC and VLSI was about VERY LARGE SCALE INTEGRATED CIRCUITS.

Internships Opportunities

My college didn't provide any internship experience and didn't even provide assistance for intern ships outside. Therefore, I have done only oen proper internship at MRPL, which was through reference and not through any college faculty. There was no stipend offered during this internship.

Placement Experience

0.5

The placements were not that great and 23 studnets students from EE got placed in Infosys and 1 student got placed in Oracle, 2 students in IBM and 2 students in Robert Bosch. Overall, in the college, Infosys placed students were 300 with a package of rs.3.25 lpa, Oracle placed students were 6 with package of 6lpa. Robert bosch - 5 students with package 3 lpa. Wipro - 20 students with package of 2.8 lpa. Mscripts offered 10 lpa to 2 students Mware offered 8 lpa to 2 students, IBM offered 2.5 lpa to 1 student. Sankalp semiconductors offered 3 lpa to 3 students.

College Events

1

Technical event was technidarshan with 3 days of contests. Participation from 8 colleges and nearly 700 students participated. Anandotsava was for 3 days and participation was from 10 colleges and 600 students participated there was no management festival.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for CET was Rs54000 per year for meritorious students. For management students, the fee structure was :CS, IS, EC, MECH- 2.5 LAKHS/ year, EE, CIVIL -2 LAKHS/ year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college didn't offer any scholarship. I received the central sector scholarship by MHRD that was nearly 10000 rupees per year. Also, the BPL students received another scholarship from the government but I wasn't eligible for it.There were no loan facilities available.

Campus Life

4

There was no emphasise on extracurriculars in NMAMIT. The labs were really very good. I didn't participate in any sports activities, but the facilities for sports were very good. There were a lot of contests on robotics and workshops too but came with a fee of Rs 4000 or more. There were no debate contests. I'm not aware of hostel parties as I didn't stay in the hostel. There was a high tolerance with regard to ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. No politics were involved campus life isn't that great in NMAMIT, because it is situated in a village and definitely not enjoyable.

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostel facilities weren't that great. The food was sub-standard. The hostel rooms were very old and boring. The fee was Rs. 1lakh per year the qaulity standards weren't good and the management was strict. The PG rentals in that area were for Rs.3000/ month and were of average quality since it was a remote area.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network that is present is not active at all because of the remote location of the college. I have recently graduated from NMAMIT, but still I'm not active in the alumni network.

Exam Structure

The exams were divided into semester wise and internal exams. Internal exams were conducted every month and semester exams happened every once in 5 months. The exams were frequent enough. The labs were nearly 3 per week and each of them was for 3 hours. It wasn't chilled out at all the lab schedule was strict.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty of my college was just okay, and not that great. Some of the lecturers made the quality sub-standard. The faculty mostly included professors who held an mtech degree and the HOD had a phd degree. The lecturers hardly focused on teaching, and mostly did it for the sake of it, and not with real passion.
