Remarks
College management is amazing. All hospital staff are friendly and carry out their duties with devotion and dedication. This inspires all students and brings in the so called gmc spirit . This college totally has its number one stance in the best extracurricular participation in mumbai amongst all colleges of medicine. There is no slogging or donkey work but students do smart work and perform well in academics too and more importantly succeed in developing good practical and clinical skills.
Entrance Preview
I took MHTCET exam. My score was 182/200. This college was considered one of the top choices in mumbai for medicine so i opted for it. There is also seth gs medical college but its too much hyped and i discovered that GGMC is the best for me.
Internships Opportunities
Yes one year rotary internship is provided to those who pass final year. Also externship is provided to those from other colleges. Stipend is rs. 6000/month. Internship is highly rigorous and tiring but you get to learn a lot and becoming a good doctor is highly dependent on going through such an experience.
Placement Experience
First every one has to complete conpulsory rotary internship after which they are awarded the bachelor's degree. Then there is a government bond which students have to fulfil for one year working in government institution. Then they can prepare for post graduate entrance examination and once they get admission it is easy to clear.
College Events
There is an annual grand event called astitva which includes everything from musical band to fashion shows. There is also a college week every february in which the most famous is rose day. Annual sports meet is called kurukshetra. There is also a marathi event named antarang. So there are these three big cultural events celebrated and eagerly awaited by all.
Fees and Financial Aid
JRD tata scholarship is for those students scoring 65 percent and above in their exam. It gives full refund of the current year's fees as scholarship. This is really a good scholarship and hassle free procedure to apply online. I have no knowledge of any loans availabilty however.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is well balanced, there are infact slightly more girls than boys. so male:female ratio is about 47:53. Campus life is enthusiastic. There are many good restaurants and film theatres nearby. Campus is big enough and many games are played in common room including table tennis. Debate competition is held annually and at intercollege level students are selected from third year.
Hostel Facilities
This is a government aided college so fees is totally feasible compared to private colleges of medicine which burn a hole in pockets. The hostel canteens are also pretty subsidised and food is very tasty. There are two boys hostels rm bhatt and apna hostel which have capacity of 800 students. Girls hostel is also seperate there is also a 300 resident hostel for pg's. All rooms have good facilties of electricity and water. Rentals are around rs 2000 for 6 months.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes seniors are very helpful. Infact this college is an ideal example of unity and bond between students from first to final year. Seniors solve doubts and give tips about tackling examinations. Extra curriculars are also performed together by juniors and seniors.
Faculty
The faculty works very hard, they teach very well and give presentations. Also practical work is very nicely organised. all faculty are well qualified and highly interested. patient exposure is also very high and so students can learn very well. Brilliant students are also chosen for intercollege competitions. research activity in all non clinical subjects is also going on full fledged.
