Entrance Preview

NIFT Common Entrance Exam. AIR - 4th Due to my fascination with fashion and the showbiz world, Fashion Communication seemed to be a perfect career choice for me.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum comprises of eight semesters, the last one dedicated to a 18 week internship with the industry. The course primarily focuses on Fashion Journalism, Fashion Photography, Graphic Design, Retail Space Management and Visual Merchandising.

Internships Opportunities

My college internship was as a Graphic Design Intern with Swiggy (Bundl Technologies Pvt Ltd). The internship experience was very welcoming and made me grow as a designer.I was offered a a stipend of INR 13000 pm.

Placement Experience

4

The placement of NIFT is not center specific. Any student from any centre can sit at a placement organised by any centre. This makes sure that the students get the maximum chance of getting placed at a worthy organisation. Worthy of the premium education NIFT promises to provide.

College Events

4

NIFT has three sets of Annual Celebration Events. The annual center specific event is called Spectrum. The annual collective event of all centers together is called Converge. Also, there is a special cultural event celebrated with literary week which is called Culturals. This event is given a theme each year and the whole college including the students gets decorated according to the theme.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarship opportunities that NIFT provides. Various brands and companies too provide scholarship opportunities to the college students. But, the sad part is that most of them are for SC/ST students and none for the General category students like us. Now, that is unfair.

Campus Life

3

The campus life of NIFT is an experience in itself. Since, the intake of the students in each different is limited to 30. A total of around 900 students and faculty members make NIFT feel like a larger family.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of our college are industry experts who make us deal with live projects and assignments to gather an idea of how the industry works and makes us ready for the industry.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum here feels more practical and idea driven rather than just theory based which was one of the main reasons I chose this course it focuses on design thinking creativity and real execution instead of only textbook learning One of the strongest parts is how it slowly builds your understanding from basics to advanced concepts through projects assignments and presentations this helps in preparing for real world work because you are constantly creating and improving your portfolio rather than just studying for exams The curriculum does prepare you for industry to a good extent especially in terms of creative thinking software usage and project handling but it can improve by including more updated trends real time industry briefs and collaboration with professionals which will make it even more relevant Teaching methods are mostly interactive and practical but sometimes they can include more workshops guest sessions and exposure to current market tools to enhance learning experience Exams are conducted with two internal assessments of around 40 marks each followed by a final semester exam of 70 marks theory and 30 marks practical the difficulty level is moderate if you attend classes and complete your work regularly it is manageable Overall the curriculum is strong in building creative foundation and practical skills but with a few updates and more industry exposure it can become even more effective for future careers

Course Curriculum Overview:

We have really packed timings. We also have a lot of chances. Like an exchange program, internships and many chances to act or work in actual projects. I really hope they could teach us animation in the course and it would really help if the clubs are active. For every exam we have to come up with something new totally out of the box. sometimes we also have to work overtime.

Students become eligible for placements after their graduation project in the 8th semester which is the 4th year. A good number of companies around 8-10 come for the campus placements. The minimum package starts from 6 lakhs and can go up to 20 lakhs per annum. Almost 70% of the students get an on campus placement. Some get an off campus placement as well. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters in my field.

There is some issue in placement, though we get placement the scope for the future through these placements are not that great. Many students fail to get proper placements. The scope or plan for many students is to try and open a new brand or collaborate with other students to create a new brand.
